Nine

I woke up early. Like really early. My class is at 1pm pa pero nagising ako ng 5am. I only had like 4 hours of sleep. No matter how much I try, I can't go back to sleep. I sighed laying on my bed.

I tried calling the weird guy I met last night because I've been laying on my bed fully awake for the past hour. Hope he's already awake...

Calling Weird Guy...

"Hello? Uhhhh what time is it?" He sounds groggy but his phone voice sounds pretty.

"Uhmm hi, good morning? Uhhhh... I woke up an hour ago and I can't go back to sleep no matter how hard I try. Wanna get breakfast or something. I kinda don't want to eat alone."

Why do I had to call him? This is a mistake! Gosh! This is so not like me. He's a stranger for Pete's sake!

"Kristia? Ohhh *loud bang was heard* ouchhhh! Dng it! Sorry sorry. I fell off the bed. You surprised me there. Maaaaan! That was one hella wake up call. Wait. Sorry. I'm getting distracted. Do you wanna eat at my place instead? I'll cook breakfast. "

"If it's okay with you, sure. What's your unit?"

"27G. Uhmm just ring the door when you're here. I'll start cooking." I heard shuffling noises on his end like he's hurrying or something.

"No need to rush. I can wait for the food anyways."

I just washed my face and brushed my teeth. I'm still in my pajamas but since he's only a floor below me I figured this is okay. My pajamas look decent enough. Oh I have to redo my braids because it got messy during sleep.

After fixing myself up a bit, I got my phone and headed down one floor to weird guy's unit for breakfast.

Wow I can't believe what I'm about to do. I feel like a chicken now that I'm standing in front of the door of his unit. Still contemplating on ringing the door bell or going back up my unit.

But what if he's already cooking food? It would be a waste. Besides, I feel better eating with someone else.

A few beats after ringing the doorbell, he opened the door to let me in.

He's wearing sweatpants and a shirt and holding a spatula.

"Good morning! You can go sit at the sofa while I finish up cooking." I just nod but I followed him to his kitchen and sat at the countertop he's not using.

"Do you want coffee? I'm brewing a pot." He offered but I shook my head in response. Now that I'm here I'm kinda getting sleepy. Weird.

Yawning, I just look around. "Do you have hot choco or something uncaffeinated?"

"Yeahh, got some hot choco mix over there by the electric kettle." I got down from the counter top and made my way to the electric kettle.

I saw that there's already hot water so I got a mug, ripped open a hot choco mix in the mug before pouring hot water. I was stirring it sleepily. But the smell of bacon awakens me.

"Breakfast is ready. Let's eat at the table. Come on."

We ate in silence. I was eating slowly and very sleepily. After we finished the food we transferred in his living room and he was flicking through netflix before settling down on some sitcom.

"We're so silent."

"Yeah, well it looks like you don't wanna talk. And you look really sleepy."

"Your place musg be hella relaxing because the moment I stepped in here, I got sleepy."

We went silent again as we watched this old sitcom.

I got up immediately once I heard the blaring alarm. Nasaan ako? I'm in an unfamiliar place. Oh my gosh! Kaninong kwarto to? I quickly checked my clothes and saw I'm still in my pajamas fully clothed. I looked around and the room is black with red accents. Definitely not my white and gold room.

Someone opened the door and I saw the weird guy from last night. Oh yea, I went to his place for breakfast.

"You okay?" I stared at him and nodded then quickly looked away coz he's just wearing a bathrobe. He came out from what I assume is the master's en suite bathroom.

"Sorry, I forgot my clothes. And I forgot I put you in my bed so you could sleep comfortably. I'll just change clothes in the bathroom." Kumuha lang siya ng damjt sa closet niya and pumasok ulit siya sa bathroom.

I got up and went to the living room. I feel really embarrassed. I saw the time and it's noon already.

"Oh my gosh! I'll be late!" I panicked then I remembered the recent fiasco in school and I'm not ready to face them again. I'll just skip class.

"Hey uhmmm sorry again for earlier. You fell asleep while we were watching Friends and you don't look comfortable sleeping while sitting on the couch so I carried you to my bedroom."

"It's okay. But you should've waken me up. I have a class at 1pm and I can't go now because I'll be late anyway."

"My bad! I should've woken you up but you look so peaceful sleeping. It's like you haven't slept before and I don't wanna ruin that."

"Ahhh I better go back to my unit. Maybe we can start your tour earlier than expected. Let's just meet at the parking lot in 2 hours?" He sighed in relief and smiled.

"Sure. I'm not walking you to the elevators so I wouldn't know which floor you live in. Don't worry." I nodded at him and slowly walked towards the main door.

"Thanks, uhhh sorry this is weird to ask seeing as I've slept in your bed and all but I forgot your name. I keep calling you weird guy in my head. Sorry."

He laughed. He laughed at what I just said.

"Aren't we all a little weird Kristia? I'm Denzel Sarmiento. Remember that please."

"Okay. Uhmm laters."

I dashed out of his unit towards the lift. This is so weird.
