Indecent Proposal

Chapter Eighteen

~~Jason's Perspective~~

Jason headed home the next day. When he got home, he took a nap; the alarm went off sooner than he wanted it to. He knew he had to get there early. He got up, showered, and left. As soon as he got to the police station, he went to the Captain's office.

He knocks on the door.

Captain James- "Come in."

Jason goes in.

Jason- "Mr. James, may I have a moment of your time? I would like to talk to you about Sarah."

Captain James- "Of course. Have a seat."

Jason sits. The Captain could see stress written all over him.

Captain James- "What's going on, Jason?"

Jason- "Well, sir, she's flirted with me since graduation. I blew it off at first. It started to get progressively worse. I told her I was seeing someone. She refused to take the hint. It's even more aggressive by touching me any chance she got. As I told you, I went to Gatlinburg with my family over my weekend. She followed me there."

Captain James- "Seriously?"

Jason- "Yes. Ava lost it on her. She had the nerve to tell Ava that I'd be running to her when I was done with her."

Captain James- "Are you wanting to file a formal complaint?"

Jason- "No. I would just like a different partner. Look, Captain James, I know my personal life is different. I also said I wouldn't let it affect my job, and it won't. I love Ava, and I can't have Sarah come between that. Ava, Lance, and the kids are my entire life. Sarah almost cost me that. I wouldn't have said anything if she hadn't followed me out of town. She has also confronted me in front of Ava twice. I don't want to cause her any trouble. I just don't want to be her partner anymore. I can't be alone in a car with her anymore."

Captain James- "I understand. My concern is she followed you and your family out of town. Why didn't you say anything sooner?"

Jason- "If I had come in here and told you without having witnesses, would you have believed me?"

Captain James- "Probably not."

Jason- "I didn't say anything, and I wouldn't have. She brought my family into it. Not just Ava. Lance and the kids too. I can't have that happen again. I promised Ava it wouldn't happen again."

While Jason was talking, Captain James was looking at stuff on his computer.

Captain James- "You haven't had any complaints, errors, or mishaps. How about we put you by yourself? I think you're ready."

Jason- "That would be great."

Captain James- "May I ask you a question off the record?"

Jason- "Sure."

Captain James- "Does Ava know that you are in love with her?"

Jason- "No. I wasn't even sure myself until I walked in here. We did talk, though. We both know we have things to work through. I guess you inadvertently helped with mine."

Captain James- "How do you think Lance is going to handle that?"

Jason- "You want an honest answer or watered-down version?"
