Chapter Thirty- Two

~~Two months later~~

~Christmas Day~

It's Christmas day. Everyone had opened their presents. Jason had gone a bit overboard for all of them. Ava was about to head to the kitchen to start on dinner. She was cooking for a small army.

Jason- "Wait, Ava."

Ava- "What?"

It took a lot for Ava to stop. She was seven months pregnant and was huge, so it was hard for her to move around. Dr. Truner was exceptionally happy with the way the twins had been progressing.

Jason- "I have one more thing for you and Lance."

Lance- "We don't need anything else. What you already got us was plenty."

Jason- "This is different. This is something that helps us all. There is also something I want to talk to you about after you open it."

Jason helps her sit on the ottoman next to where Lance had his wheelchair. Jason handed Lance a box. Once Ava was seated, he gave the box to her. Ava starts to open it.

Allison- "Mommy always takes forever opening presents."

Jason- "I need her to be careful with this one."

Ava opens it to find a white t-shirt box. It was light, so she handed it to Lance.

Ava- "You open it. If something  jumps or pops out, it will send me into labor."

Jason laughs.

Jason- "Nothing is going to jump out, Sweetheart."

Lance opens the box to find paperwork. He picks it up and reads it.

Lance- "Jason, is this real?"

Jason- "It is. Everything is in there."

He hands it to Ava. Her job is to read everything. So, she reads it line by line.

Ava- "Really, Jason?"

Jason- "Yes."

Lance- "How did...why did...?"

Jason- "I overheard you two talking a few weeks back. I heard you two talking about borrowing from Ava's 401k to remodel the house. I know why you want to remodel the house. I didn't want her to borrow from her 401k. We are a family. This is my home too. I've said it before, and I mean it. Everything I have is ours now."

Ava- "Oh, Jason."

Lance- "This is huge for us. You really don't know how huge this really is."

Jason- "We've never discussed money; you two found out about me through Alaina; she took that ability from me. I can take care of us. I want you two to let me take care of us."

Ava- "This is the best gift that you could have given us."

Jason- "There more..."

Lance- "Jason, what you just gave us was enough."

Jason- "This part of it helps with the space issue. Chris and I have come up with some ideas to remodel the house. It would make the downstairs wider for Lance. It would also give us the ability to put the nursery downstairs. Ava, I know that you want to continue working. I don't have a problem with that. We do need it more convenient for Lance when you do go back to work after they are born."
