Indecent Proposal

Chapter Twenty-Nine

~~Two weeks later~~

Jason was released from the hospital after four days. They did move him to his own room the next day, and he got to see the kids. Adam made him do a mandatory eight off, which is when the doctor will clear him. With Jason being shot, Adam was able to pull some strings, and when he does return to work, he will stay at the kid's school. He will not patrol anymore.

Adam had put out a BOLO for Sarah. He received word that the Alabama state police found her with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She had left a note stating she had no reason to live with her dad dead.

It's Saturday. Lance, Jason, Logan, Adam, and Chris are outback at Ava's. All the girls are inside cooking. All five kids are outside with the guy's Logan had DJ. Alaina has been unusually quiet for the last week. Ava has been worried about her, and so has Kendra. Ava notices she is lost in thought, looking out the window. Ava knew it was because of the baby. Ava walks over and puts her hand on Alaina's back.

Ava- "Alaina, I am not trying to push you or force you, but I think it's time to tell him."

Alaina had told Kendra and her mom that she was pregnant. She also told them how it happened.

Elizabeth- "There is no fear of anything bad happening again. Logan has made no attempts to move out."

Ava- "Jason told him he could stay. I think it gives him comfort knowing there is a man there for you two."

Elizabeth– "I like having him around."

Alaina- "I don't either, to be honest. We have a routine, and it works for us."

Kendra- "From the outside looking in, it looks as though you guys are a family already."

Ava- "You don't think living together that he isn't going to figure out that you're pregnant?"

Jason- "You're pregnant, Alaina?"

They didn't hear anyone come in.

Ava- "Shit, Alaina. I'm sorry."

Alaina- "I umm.. I..."

Ava bails her out.

Ava- "She is pregnant, Jason. It's Logan's. Do not tell him it isn't your place."

Jason- "When did this happen?"

Alaina- "It was only once. It was back in Pennsylvania. I'm sorry, Jason. I was on the pill. It failed."

Jason- "Don't apologize, Alaina. I'm not upset with you. Shit happens."

Alaina- "You're not mad?

Jason- "No. Just to be clear, though, Logan isn't going anywhere. He will continue to live with you. You need to tell him before he figures it out himself and isn't happy with you. Ava, you and I need to talk. Will you come upstairs with me?"

Ava- "Sure."

Ava followed him upstairs. She wasn't sure that what he just told Alaina was true and that he was probably upset with her.

Ava- "I am sorry. I should have told you."

He shuts the door and pushes her against it. His mouth comes down on hers.
