Bottle after bottle, Hyunjin never seemed to get tired of the burning feel of the alcohol running down her throat.
"What...what...what does she," Hyunjin tried to say, but she felt as if her lungs were collapsing on her.
"C'mon, spit it out," Jungeun said, equally as drunk.
"What does she have...that I don't?" Hyunjin asked. "I-I mean, I have everything."
Hitting the top of bottle onto the table, Hyunjin took another mouthful of the liquor. Being drunk felt unbelievably good.
Clicks from what they could only assume was high heels approached them from the side. Pulling out a stool, Jiwoo sat with her legs crossed.
"Jesus, why are you like this?" She asked, looking at the slumped over Jungeun.
"You tend to lose count of how many bottles you drink when going out for a drink with...that one," Jungeun replied, tilting her head at Hyunjin.
From any outside perspective, it would seem that Hyunjin was sober as anyone could ever be. But further observation would show her eye to twitch from now and then.
Hyunjin opened another bottle, this time with her bare hands. With a slight glare, she slid the bottle across the table and right into Jiwoo's hands.
"I don't drink," Jiwoo said.
"Hmm," Hyunjin hummed, taking yet another mouthful of her drink.
"Look, can you make this quick?" Jiwoo said. "I don't have time for your bullsh-"
Slamming her bottle onto the table, Hyunjin stopped Jiwoo from any further comments.
"Quick? Sure, I'll make it quick," Hyunjin said. "Look at me."
Jiwoo couldn't, she felt like a coward. It felt like Hyunjin's eyes were piercing right through her.
"Jiwoo," Hyunjin said with a deep sigh. "What did you do?"
Immediately, Jiwoo knew exactly what their conversation would be consisted off. Their only shared topic of interest, Heejin.
"Her decisions are her decisions, I have nothing to do with them," Jiwoo said, glancing at the bottle of liquor.
"Then give her back to me," Hyunjin responded.
"Huh?" Jiwoo said.
"You heard me, give her back," Hyunjin repeated, her eyes unthinkably serious.
Looking to her right then her left, Jiwoo took a rather large quaff of her drink. Instead of calming herself down, it tensed her up.
"You're the only thing holding her back," Hyunjin said. "Just give her back."
"No," Jiwoo said, her hand gripped onto the bottle.
"We both know you could never be what she needs," Hyunjin said, leaning across the table to Jiwoo's ear. "Or what she wants."
Right before Jiwoo raised her arm Hyunjin sat back down with a mischievous grin. Her intentions weren't on getting the girl mad, but she did enjoy seeing it.
"Sooyoung would've absolutely loved this Jiwoo," Hyunjin mumbled. "How sad, you drove her away."
"Her decision, not mine," Jiwoo responded, taking another drink.
"You're only causing us more problems, Jiwoo," Hyunjin said, her eyes completely dead. "You can't treat her better than I can."
"Where were you?" Jiwoo asked. "Where were you when she cried? When she couldn't sleep? Hyunjin, where were you when she needed you? You couldn't do half the shit I've done for her."
