AN//: Hi everybody. I am currently avoiding uni work by writing this. I wanted to explain how the story will be layed out and my plan with it to keep everybody in the loop and preemptively answer questions.
The story is split into 12 sections. Each is a certain chunk of the One Direction timeline. This book will span from 2010 to about 2020/2021 (I haven't decided yet). So it is a BIG book. I try to match the book timeline to actual timeline of the band as best as possible. So all the songs, albums, tours etc are correct. I did a lot of research for this stuff. Most concert dates are actual times and places but for the sake of the story I did not look up where the band was every single day, so there might be a lack of continuity in some places where the band is somewhere but irl they were somewhere else. This only applies to really minimal dates, and I try not to give specific days for these situations like (22 of February) so that it is more vague. I have stayed true to the song writing credits, so that I can explore the meaning behind the songs through the eyes of the boy who wrote it. I have added things that are non-confirmed or suspected by the fanbase like the backstory of the cancelled concert. I want to reiterate that this book is completely fictional.
Also. Certain things might be changed, for example, Harry is never in a 'relationship' with Caroline Flack. Sometimes it's because it interferes with the trajectory of the story I want to tell, and other times because I honestly couldn't care less. This is too long a book to keep everything 100% factual.
CHARACTER GOALS: I want character continuity. So I want my depiction of the boys to be as realistic as possible. Obviously everybody perceives people differently. I have added some common tropes and everything. Also, we have to remember since this is such a large period of time they will change as people and the way they are written will change too.
NOELLE: Some of you may think I focus on the main character Noelle too much. My least favorite thing in fanfics is when the characters have no personality or anything outside of the band. I wanted to create a story with a main character with a strong and continuous personality, who makes mistakes but isn't an absolute idiot. I want Noelle to do things within the bounds of her character, (I hate when characters randomly do something they would never do based on how they are written). That being said, as this book is about One Direction and Noelle's relationship, the story is obviously guided by this. I am trying to make more scenes that pass the Bechdel test, but it's hard to do so without it being filler because the story is about One Direction. Anyways. ENJOY!

I drummed my fingers to the beat my Fleetwood Mac playlist as I maneuvered the dark streets. Apparently in small British towns streetlights had been deemed unnecessary. It was hard to keep my eyes trained on the road, I was exhausted and every time I blinked I risked the chance of running over the edge. The smell from the food in the back of the car wafted up to me and reminded me that I hadn't eaten since my late breakfast, it was now past 11 at night.
With a sigh I pulled off the main road and delved into the woods a bit. I had delivered food nearly everywhere but this house I hadn't even known existed until my Grandmother shoved the order into my arms and sent me on my way.
I hadn't the heart to tell her I was about to fall dead asleep, she didn't know I was picking up extra shifts at the cafe. That was what this summer was about, making money without mum having to feed me. After losing the apartment my mom thought it better to send me to England to stay with my grandmother until she could sort things out. But summer was wrapping up and there was no talk of me going home yet.
I yawned again snapping out of my deep thoughts and pulled up to the house. It was small, cottagey, I could tell it wasn't a local house because of it's proximity to the water. Probably a bunch of rich snobs who only came down here on holiday. Could you imagine having not one house, but two? I didn't even have one. Life was unfair.
I pulled the order from the backseat and marched up to the door, with the amount of food I was carrying these people better tip well. Then I heard it, it was faint but the sound of laughter mixed with singing. Somebody was strumming at a guitar while other's sang along. They sounded really good together, actually. I almost felt bad for interrupting the music by ringing the doorbell.
The door opened only a few moments after revealing a blond boy about my age. "Hi!" he greeted tearing the door open further. The house behind him was trashed, upturned furniture, discarded clothes, cups, newspapers. Maybe they were squatters?
"Lads! Food!" he shouted out. This caused 4 other boys to come barreling around the corner. So they were here alone, which was why it was such a disaster.
"Hey" I replied, "you're Liam?" I asked the blonde one checking the order receipt.
"No, i'm Niall. But I'll take the food" he said excitedly.
"I'm Liam, thanks for coming all the way out here. I know it's a bit confusing" a different boy said ruffling through his wallet. A serious look was plastered on his face, sandy blonde hair swept across his forehead. He must have been the oldest (maybe an older brother) although they didn't look nearly alike enough as a group to be siblings.
"How much was it?" he asked.
"57.50, and it was no problem getting up here" I replied. They probably wouldn't tip well being young.
"You're from america then?" another boy asked picking up on my lack of accent. His jet black hair made him stand out from the rest. And his accent was laced with traces of another accent I couldn't pin, they definitely were not brothers, they didn't even sound like they lived in the same parts of England.
"Canada, but close" I replied. "Spending my summer with my grandparents" I added.
"None of us are from 'round here either. We're spending some quality time 'cause were a band now" Niall offered to fill the silence of Liam fishing through his wallet.
"Oh yeah? That's cool" I entertained. It made sense considering I had heard them singing earlier.
"Do you watch X-factor?" he asked me. I shook my head, "but my grandmother does sometimes".
"We're from there" he said. I wasn't quite sure what that meant. Maybe they were practicing for it.
"No really, look us up. We're One Direction" a boy said. He had a flop of dirty blond hair and blue eyes, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Perhaps he was Liam's younger brother?
"Okay" I told them laughing at the idea.
Liam handed me a wad of cash. I always hated counting it in front of people it made me feel awkward.
He had handed me 65 dollars, which I suppose was better then nothing.
"Here luv, we know dealing with us isn't fun" the supposed younger brother of the mature one said handing me a bill of his own. That was better.
"Thanks, guys. Enjoy your meal" I said with as much of a smile as I could muster. The only one of them who hadn't said a word was leaning on the door frame. His green eyes met mine and he smiled back.
"Promise you'll remember when me when you're famous?" I joked. The silent boy nodded, "always".
A/N: Hi guys! So I am new to the platform but I've been writing my entire life. Sorry this is short, generally I try to make my chapters 2000 words and up but it felt right to end it there! I hope you keep reading and please recommend to friends!!
