Thoroughly warm I wrapped my hand around the tea Anne had brewed us and leaned into Harry. The television played some random show in the background but I was busy studying him. He wasn't paying attention either, deep into a book. I watched as his eyes flit across each line, how he poked out his tongue a bit and furrowed his brow at some parts. Could I possibly be in love with Harry? It felt like we hadn't been together long enough. I suppose we had known each other a year now, but we had only shared air a short time of it. We weren't even officially dating, just 'seeing what was happening' which irked me. So I couldn't possibly love this boy could I?
"What?" Harry asked interrupting my thoughts. I zoned back in to see him staring at me a smile playing on his lips. "You're staring Noelle..." he said in a low voice that made my heart squeeze tightly.
"I'm just bored" I said trying to play it off. "Is this show in spanish?" I questioned turning back to the television.
"it's to expand your mind" Harry said. But he had laid the book on the coffee table.
Anne and Robin were in the kitchen making talk and finishing up dinner, Gemma was upstairs playing music that floated into the family room.
His hand found its way into my hair and he lightly drew circles on my scalp, "so prom..." he mumbled thoughtfully. He had tilted his head to stare at the pattered ceiling and I could tell he was antsy about the topic.
"what about it?" I asked. Although I could feel myself getting nervous as well.
"That's super long from now"
"We've already established that" I reminded him thinking back to the creek.
"Well... you know how we've been just... going with it cause you have to leave for school?" he asked and I nodded nonchalantly as if it hadn't been at the forefront of my mind. "If you think we can... do it then so do I" he stumbled out a bunch of words that made no sense to me. Do what? Anne seemed to have the same question,
"Do what?" she asked quizzically from the doorframe. Harry turned bright in the cheeks and sat up straight to face her.
"Mum!" he complained looking between the two of us.
She raised her arms in defense, "I was coming in to ask you to set to table for supper" she said.
Harry audibly sighed shooting her a pleading look. "Can't Gemma do it? We're having a conversation" he complained.
I nudged him with my elbow, "go on, let's set for supper lazy bones" I said while rolling my eyes.
"I knew I liked you" Anne smiled warmly leaving for the kitchen. Harry and I stood from the couch and began to set the table.
"So what were you trying to say before?" I asked him as we placed plates on the nice wooden surface.
"Oh right" he mumbled to himself before pausing to hopeful form a more coherent sentence. "Um... prom"
"yes"
"So thats like a year away, and if you think we'll still be... doing this then, then y'know..." he said raising his eyebrows. But I really didn't know, what the hell was he spewing. I mulled over the words in my head, prom meant future, doing this meant our kindof relationship-.
"Harry Styles, are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" I said feeling a smile crawl across my face. He nodded sheepishly and tossed his hair.
Without really thinking about the implications, caught up in the excitement of the moment I let down the last plate bounding towards him to slam into his chest. He let out a little oof and I could feel him chuckle as he placed his arms around me.
