Off grunted as his phone kept ringing, forcing him to reach out for his phone on his side table. He was still half-asleep and did not even bother looking at the caller ID. His head was still throbbing from the hangover he got from last night's bar session and whoever was on the other line better had a good reason for bothering his sleep.
"Son, I've been knocking on your door for minutes but you're not answering. Hurry up. Open the door!"
His mother did not even bother hearing his answer and just ended the call. With his head still pounding, he groggily made his way to the door, ready to hear his mother's nagging. He was about to kiss his mother's cheeks upon opening the door but stopped midway as his eyes landed on the bags on the floor.
"Are you gonna stay here??" Horror was written on his face as he watched his mother's forehead furrow.
"Wait. What? Oh! Have you forgotten? I texted you yesterday about the son of a friend of mine who's gonna stay here with you."
"Moooom. You know I don't like living with someone else right?"
"Come on. It's just temporary. It will be a waste of money if he's gonna rent when he can stay here with you."
"Where is he then so I can tell it to his face that I don't like him to be here."
"Off, don't be rude. He just went back to get something from the car. Besides you already know each other. Oh, I guess it's him."
Off scratched his head in frustration as he heard footsteps coming their way. He knew very well that he couldn't argue with his mother because her decisions could never be changed but at that time, he was willing to risk being his mother's son just to convince her not to let somebody else live with him.
"Oh, son, have you gotten everything you needed?" His mother said as the guy he never expected to see came into view.
"Yes mom."
His breath hitched up as he met the guy's eyes, making him feel like he was warped in a blackhole he never expected to fall into. For how could he ever forget those eyes, the very eyes of his first love, Gun Atthaphan.

9 years ago. 2nd week of Freshmen year
Tay and Off were in the library reading some books on how to write a good film review. He was currently writing some notes when he noticed the short guy trying to reach for a book on top of the shelf. Still irritated with what happened last week, he approached the guy. He had learned that his name was Gun Atthaphan during their classes, but they never get to speak with each other.
"Don't even bother reaching for that one. You'd only get cramps, but you won't be able to reach it," Off said with a playful smirk on his face while leaning on the shelf. He planned on irritating Gun to get back at him for what happened last week.
Gun only side-eyed him and didn't even bother to answer, instead he continued standing on his tippy toes to reach the book. He was about to reach it when Off grabbed the book before his fingers could even touch the book's spine.
"Oh, I've been looking for this book everywhere since it's the last copy. Thanks for finding it for me."
Gun was left in utter disbelief as he watched Off made his way back to the table, holding the book he'd been reaching for earlier.
"Where did you go?" Tay, who seemed to just wake up from a nap, asked.
"Are you here to study or to sleep?" Off slowly slammed the book on the table in the hopes of fully waking up his friend.
Tay only smiled at him, showing his teeth and gums and his eyes fully closing. Off was unsure if it was an eyesmile or if Tay was still sleeping.
He was about to sit down when his butt hit the floor instead of the chair. He was prepared to shout curses in different languages when he saw Gun's face looking down on him.
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" He could feel his face burning as he grabbed the collar of Gun's uniform.
"Off we're in the library," Tay, who seemed to be fully awake now tried to stop Off from closely strangling Gun.
"Be careful who you're messing with," Gun fired back still not breaking their eye contact.
"TO THE STUDENT DISCIPLINE OFFICE, NOW."
Off mentally cursed. It seemed like he'd be doing community service with this short brat.

Off looked at the guy who was currently sitting on his sofa. He noticed how he had grown a bit taller and his skin got fairer. He lost some weight. He had grown more mature now, but he still got that cuteness in him. But what he noticed the most was his lips. They were still the same, the same lips he'd love to steal kisses from. The very same lips who would wake him up in the morning after a night of cuddling and a little bit of naughtiness.
His mother already went back so they were the only ones left. As much as he wanted to strike a conversation first, but he didn't know what to say to him. He had never been this nervous before.
"Uhm, Off, I don't wanna impose, but can I have a glass of water? I don't wanna invade your kitchen sooo," Off was quite relieved when Gun started the conversation.
"Ye-yeah. And don't worry, you can invade my space anytime you want. You don't have to worry," Off finally got the courage to smile at Gun. He then made his way to the kitchen to get Gun a glass of water. With his hand shaking, he slowly made his way back to hand Gun the glass of water. But he felt his world shattering when he heard Gun talking over the phone.
"Bub? Don't worry, it's alright. I know you're busy. I can take care of myself. See you this dinner. I love you."
The glass just slipped from his hand as he heard those three words, those very three words Gun used to say to him, only him.
"Off, are you alright?"
Off heard the glass as it shattered on the floor, and along with it was his heart.
