Rodolphus was on his way to his bedroom when he felt someone drag him inside the empty guest bedroom. It was his sister Pandora. No one had seen her since the awful incident during the family dinner few hours earlier. It was a middle of the night and they couldn't use magic outside Hogwarts so they were staring at each other in complete darkness.
"What the hell are you doing, Dora?", he hissed.
"Rod", she started and her voice scared him. He's never heard her voice sounding like that. It was raspy, it was on the verge of tears, it was desperate.
"What do you want from me?"
"Why didn't you say anything?! You're my brother. I know we're not really fond of each other but you're my older brother! You should protect me"
"But what from? I also think that Tobias marrying you is a good idea. What else would you do after school? And believe me, you're not doing him any favour. He's doing one for you. I can't picture anyone else marrying you", he snorted and pushed her away.
"You're cruel", she whispered, "Cruel, Rod"
"No. I care for you and want the best for you", he tried to convince her.
"You don't love me, Rodolphus. You never did. Ever since I was a child. You were treating me awfully. And I, despite everything, love you. I always did. And all these times when I was annoying you? Being rude to you? Bothering you and your friends? I only wanted you to finally notice me. I craved your attention. My older brother's. But I don't have one. Turns out I don't have one", she sighed and left the room before she would burst into tears in front of him.
That night she fantasized about running away. But it was only fantasizing, nothing else. She was too scared of leaving home and never seeing her family again. Deep down in her heart Pandora knew that she had to eventually get used to the idea of marrying Tobias Lestrange.
In the morning she didn't apologize. It was never her intention to do so. She despised her whole family so she sat next to Tom Riddle. He greeted her with a surprised look on his face and a raised eyebrow but he didn't say anything. He had to admit that he felt some kind of a sympathy for her.
Mr and Mrs Lestrange pretended that their daughter wasn't around. They decided that the silent treatment would be the best for their rebellious daughter. They were waiting for her to apologize.
She ate as fast as possible and left the dining room. The weather outside was lovely so she decided to spend her day in the garden. And the garden in Lestrange Manor was enormous, arranged in a French-style and full of mysterious aisles. There was even a small labirynth in the middle of it. And it was Pandora's favourite spot so that's where she went and sat on the bench with a book about potions. Of course it was just a form of distraction. She couldn't focus on anything.
