"Lady Lisuga, Datu Paglinawan is feeling ill. He needs your help." One of the datu's valet visited Lisuga's hut.
"Take me to him," she said with concern tone and rushed towards his bedchamber, but to her surprise, he was vim and vigor.
"Oh, Lisuga, you came." Paglinawan was looking elated.
"What is happening here?" she asked bemusedly. Before she continued to speak, Paglinawan had ordered his valets and his guards to exit his chamber. "I thought you were sick."
"I'm sorry. I had to lie. I've noticed that you've been avoiding me these past few days and I wanted to see you."
Her expression was contrite. "Actually, we need to talk."
"Is this about my brother?"
Lisuga was flabbergasted as she stared back at his cheery yet pained eyes.
"Do you love him?"
She faltered. He knew the truth, but he wanted to clarify it from her, and she feared that it would break their brotherhood if she would be honest of her feelings.
"I love you." He broke their silence. "I also love my brother, and I owe him my life. Because of him, I wouldn't be where I am today. If he said he loves you and you love him back, then there is no problem at all. I had already raised my white flag long ago. Your happiness and his happiness is also my happiness."
"But my love for him is not important anymore," she blurted. "I've decided to let him go and do what is right in which I had never been."
"And you think loving him was wrong?"
She wanted to say no but her lips just said yes. Tears came without warning, but she still looked confident with her answer.
Paglinawan walked in front of her. He held her hands and there was no sign of tremble. He was impressed of how she was able to handle it despite how broken she already was. "You two have come so far, would you really want to waste it? You should think about it."
"Thank you for your advice but I want to make things right."
"You can always do both," he smiled. "It may be difficult, but the sun will always come out after the storm."
"I should probably go."
"He's leaving. I think you should know."
