I rushed down the hall and looked for Five, and passed Vanya rushing out of the house, I wanted to ask what was wrong, but didn’t want to impose. I saw a woman then, and I figured it was Grace, their robotic mother.“Hello, there,” Grace said.
“Hello, ma’am, do you know where I could find Five?”
Grace led me through the mansion and to a hallway with doors to where I assumed the Umbrella Academy kids. She knocked on the door in the middle of the hallway.
“Yeah?” said a voice inside, unmistakably Five. You see, a funny thing happens when you spend seventeen years with the same person, you either go crazy, and/or know absolutely everything about that person, their breathing, the sound of their footsteps, the sound of their voice.
“It’s your friend, sweetie,” Grace says, a seemingly permanent smile on her face.
“Oh, come on in Y/N” Grace smiles at me and leaves. I walk into his small room. It was quaint, a twin bed in the corner, nightstand, bookshelves, wardrobe, desk, and well, Five. I walked over and plopped myself on the bed next to him.
“Nice outfit, wonder boy,” I tease.
“I could say the same to you, weirdo.” Five says. “What do you need, or are you just here to bother me?”“I figured something out,”
“Well that’s a first.” He taunted.
“Wait, be serious for a second. Look at the comic book again.” I handed it over to him. He looked it over, flipped throught he pages. He saw us when we first met, us traveling back in time, me stepping out of the shower, towel tucked across my body, and finally, me coming with Grace to Five’s room, leading to this moment. Then the pages turned blank.
“This is interesting,” Five observes, “Everything leading up to this very moment. Quite fascinating, really.” He hands it back.
“There’s nothing you can do?” I reeled, expecting more from him.
“Do you want some coffee?” Five asks, completely ignoring the question. But, not having coffee for 20 years does a lot to you. I nodded, and walked downstairs and into the kitchen with him. Five looked at the coffee pot.
“A mansion with 43 bedrooms, and 19 bathrooms, and not a single drop of coffee.” Five sighed, unimpressed. Klaus and Allison were still in the kitchen.
“You know dad never liked caffeine,” Allison remarked. Klaus, laying on the counter, continued.
“Yeah, and he sure didn’t like kids either, but he sure had plenty of those.” Klaus laughed, playing with the pill in his and dropped it into his mouth, took a swift chug of vodka, and howled.
Five rolled his eyes, and took my wrist.
“I’m taking the car,” Five started to exit.
“Can you even drive?” Allison called out. Five rolled his eyes once more.
“I can do everything!” He yelled back, walking to the side door.
He opened the door to the car, and piled inside. He took about five minutes to finally adjust to his door to best fit his small frame.
“So you can actually drive?” I asked, simply out of curiousity. He sighed and glared at you.
“Really, you too?” I shrugged.
“When I was in the past with the Wanderer, I was treated like a grown man, and considering I killed people, I guess it makes sense that I would know how to drive, right?” I nodded my head.
“So, shall we get going?” I ask, trying to switch the subject. Five put the car in drive, and he nodded. We rode in silence, something we both enjoyed. After about five minutes, I broke the silence.
“What’s it like?” He looked at me for a moment, then turned back to the road. “Seeing them again, I mean.” He sighed.
“It’s hard. I mean, but that's the reason why we’re back here in the first place, right? To stop the end of the world, and to get you home. So, in a sense, that helps.” I smile at him, hoping to uplift his mood a little bit.
Five put the vehicle in park, and pushed the door open. I did the same, and we walked into a diner called “Griddy’s.”
The diner was small and quaint; a few booths and tables scattered around, and a large bar in the middle. Five and I walked over to the bar and sat down next to a middle-aged man. He smiled at us as the bartender came over.
She was a thin older woman with thin blonde hair and was sporting a pink diner’s dress and a pink headband. There was an “Agnes” embroidered on the breast of the dress.
“What can I get you?” She asked the man, and he ordered a coffee and a doughnut. “Can I get the kids some milk or something?” She asked. The man started to say something about us not being with him but Five interrupted.
“The kids will have coffee. Black.” Agnes looked back at the two of you, and I wondered what she was thinking. Probably wondering about some bull about “kids these days.” Five flashed an innocent smile, and she left without a word, sharply turning and disappearing into the kitchen.
The diner had some indie music playing, and it was silent other than the sound of me nervously twisting in my chair and the constant buzz of the coffee machines.
Agnes came back with the coffee and Five pulled out his wallet. The man stopped him and shot him a small smile before sliding a five dollar bill across to the woman. Five smiled back and I whispered a small ‘thank you’ before turning to my coffee and silently sipping. Five and the man struck up some conversation about his prosthetic eye, but I wasn’t paying attention. The song ‘Istanbul (Not Constantinople)’ was playing.
Lost in thought, I didn’t hear the door jingle open. I turned around and saw a bunch of men in hazmat suits. Five put down his coffee and didn’t mind to even turn around.
“I was wondering when you guys were gonna get here,” Five chuckled, but picked up the butter knife next to him and started spacial jumping around and killing (or fatally hurting) each agent as I just sat there, in utter disbelief.
As Five jumped behind one guy and was wrestling with him, an agent snuck up behind me and grabbed me, cupped a hand over my mouth, and hauled me over to the back door.
I kicked and flailed my arms, trying to get Five’s attention. Once he did notice though, it was too late. I was out the door and on the way to a van, when it happened. A tug in my stomach snapped, and another portal was summoned right before my eyes. I tugged free from the man, and fell through the portal.

And so ladies and gentlemen, that is the whole story! No, actually though, there's a one-shot coming out on Wednesday which is basically Y/n going to another AU which is her world but she sees it in a whole other light. So, read that if you want all the other chapters to make sense. Same as always though, vote comment, and correct any misspellings. After the one-shot comes out, I will continue this book on the following Saturday, does that make sense?
See ya Wednesday!
