Chapter 41

The next day we got back to work. I went through the house and grabbed a few pictures of me and my dad and one of my mom when she was my age. She died when I was young so I don't remember her only the stories my dad told me. I went into my dad's office and dug around just to make sure he didn't have anything hidden I didn't know about.

After not finding anything I grabbed the keys to my dad's truck and the station. I locked the house up and then shut the garage door once the cars were out. We went down the list deciding to go through the neighborhood first and go through all the houses. Daryl and Merle had already taken any guns and ammo from their house so I crossed that off.

Some of the houses that had registered weapons were empty. I assumed they took everything with them when they left. Other houses still had the occupants inside along with their guns and any ammo. We put the walkers down and took what we could. After we were finished we headed into town. We went to all businesses that had registered guns which there was only 5 and we found 3 of them still had guns.

Last we went to the station. I unlocked the door and then knocked a few times. We waited until the walkers inside slammed themselves up against the windows. Daryl controlled the door while I put the walkers down one at a time. Once that was done we went inside and cleared it only finding two more walkers locked in an office. I checked my dad's office and then we went to the locker where the guns and ammo were kept. There wasn't too much left but we took whatever was there and took anything else of use like flash bombs and smoke bombs. I even grabbed handcuffs and zip ties.

Out of habit, I locked the station up once we were done. Daryl throws his bags in the back of the truck and I did the same. Luckily my dad's truck had a cover on the back because it started raining as we got finished. Daryl took the car while I took my dad truck and we headed out of town and made our way back to the prison.

We finally pulled up to the gates of the prison after dark. Maggie opened the gates and we drove through and parked. Everyone came out to greet us.

"Thought something might happen when you didn't come back the same day Rick did," Maggie said.

"No, just ran out of daylight. We got more than just guns and ammo. I took all the clothes I had left in my closet and dressers figured us girls could go through them pick what we want if just share everything. I also got my dad's clothes for the guys and clothes from another house that I could fit. I also got clothes, toys, bottles, formula and a by choice of other stuff of the baby. My neighbor had a little girl before everything happened so there was a lot. We went through all houses that had guns the same as the businesses in the town and the station. We should have enough guns and ammo plus knives and other goodies," I said to everyone.

"You guys got a lot to bring back two vehicles," Rick said.

"Um yeah. The town is kinda hidden so people that live there or have family there knew where to find it but other then that the only way people ever came was because they were lost and happened upon it," I told him.

We all brought everything inside and sat it in the common area. "Y/N, thank you for the baby stuff you didn't need to do that," Rick said.

I smiled at him and sighed "Rick, it really wasn't a big deal. She needs to need It and it was there. We're family you don't need to raise her alone you have the rest of us to help," I told him.

Rick smiled and took the baby stuff to his cell. We operated the women's and men's clothes so it could be gone through later after we won the war that was on our way. We then put all the guns and ammo together and the other stuff I had in a different pile. There was no way we'd lose this fight.

A few days later we all packed up our stuff and put them in the cars. We took the cars and hid them and then Hershel and Beth took the baby and Carl into the woods to hide. Daryl, Rick, Michonne, and I all went to the tombs to hide. The plan was to set off smoke bombs and flash bombs and blind the governor and his men then set walkers their way. Maggie, Carol, and Glenn were outside waiting to shoot as they came out.

In the end, they all ran and retreated we had won the war so far. We notified Hershel to let him know it was safe to come back. Then Rick, Daryl, me, Maggie, Muchonne, and Glenn all went after the governor. When we were on our way we got stopped.  Their vehicles were in the middle of the road. Everyone was dead but the governor and his two henchmen were gone. One woman survived and told us what had happened and went back to Woodberry with us. Once we saw everyone else was still there and the governor was gone we searched for Andrea.

We had found out she had tried to come back to the prison but the governor stopped her. We found her in a room sitting against the wall. She had been chained to a chair and left in there with a walker. She ended up being bitten and wanted to end it herself. Rick gave her his gun and Michonne stayed with her. The rest of us stayed in the hall.

When the gunshot went off I buried my head into Daryls chest. I didn't get along with Andrea to well hit she was still part of our family. After that, we took her back to the prison along with a bus full of the people left at Woodberry.  Rick explained everything to the others and we informed everyone about the rules. We cleared another cell block and that where they'd stay.

Our community was growing. We could finally make this place as safe as possible and make it a home. We'd be able to come up with a system and jobs to make things run smoothly. There were so many plans already. We planed to grow a garden, make it so we could pump water from the lake. Things would slowly come together and we'd live in a semi peaceful world.
