"Shawty bad with the Skechers on, wanna hold your hand, make you my girl, light up, light up, Skechers, light up, light up my world..."
George's eyes blinked open as his phone began blaring music. He groaned and rolled over to grab the device which had rudely awakened him. The name on the screen read Dream. Of course it did; that was the ringtone he'd set for Clay, it would've been strange if it had been someone else calling.
George slid his thumb along the bottom of the screen a few times before the phone registered his touch and accepted the call. "Hey, Dream, what's up?" he greeted, sitting up in his bed.
"Hey, George! You ready to record soon?" Clay's enthusiastic voice responded.
George rubbed his eyes. What day was it again? Oh right, Tuesday. "Uh, yeah, just give me a few minutes. I just woke up."
Clay wheezed. "Isn't it, like, 3pm where you are?"
"Yeah, so? You know my sleep schedule is fucked." George climbed out of bed and began opening and closing drawers, trying to find something to wear. Eventually, he settled on a simple white t-shirt and his embroidered hoodie.
"Yeah, that's true. Mine pretty much is, too. Remember that time we stayed up all night on a TeamSpeak call?" Clay recalled.
George's simple response, "Which one?" sent Clay into a fit of laughter.
George put down the phone for a minute while he threw on the clothes he'd selected, then put it back up to his ear as he left the room. "What should I have for breakfast?" he asked as he browsed the selection of food in his fridge.
"I don't know what British people eat," Clay said unhelpfully. "You could have, like- tea and crumpets, or something." He began wheezing at his own comment.
George rolled his eyes. "You're so stupid. Whatever, I'll just have cereal." He pulled out a box of Cheerios and tossed them onto the table before fetching a bowl and a jug of milk. He poured the cereal and the milk into the bowl, realized he'd forgotten a spoon, grabbed a spoon, and sat down to eat. "You still there, Dream?"
"Yeah. You looking forward to recording today?" Clay asked.
George gave an affirmative hum. "The nether was so crazy even with all three of us working together; I can't imagine what it'll be like with you hunting me."
Clay chuckled. "I'm gonna destroy you, that's what's gonna happen."
George scoffed. "We'll see." He finished eating his cereal and put the bowl next to the sink. "All right, let me get set up and we can record."
——
"Next time, I'm gonna get you," George promised.
"We'll see," was Clay's confident response.
George stopped his recording, deciding he had enough content for both the main video and the extra scenes. He sighed and leaned back in his chair. "That was pretty crazy, huh?" he commented.
Clay hummed in agreement. The two were silent for a while before Clay spoke up again. "Do you wanna meet up sometime?"
George blinked in surprise. "Oh, sure! When were you thinking?"
"Um, I dunno, I'm free for the month, so we could do it anytime."
George opened up a new tab and began browsing flight times. "Hey, there's one for today! I could be there by, like... 10pm your time!"
Clay chuckled. "Go for it!"
George laughed. "Nah, I'm not gonna, I need time to plan and stuff." He sighed. "Can we think about this tomorrow? I've got some stuff to do right now."
"Yeah, of course! Talk to you later, okay?"
"'Kay. Bye, Dream!" George left the TeamSpeak channel and moved over to his editing program, which still had the vlog from the time he, Clay, and Wilbur met up open. He felt a pang of guilt for not having made any progress on editing it. They'd told the fans it would be about a week until it was released; it had been more like three months.
He sighed, deciding that if the fans could wait three months, they could wait a few more days. He opened the new video file and began cutting it down to a reasonable video length.
Hours later, George decided he was satisfied with the trimmed video and saved the file. It wasn't often that he sat down and edited an entire video all in one go, so it took a lot out of him. He glanced at the clock. It was almost midnight. His first thought was to go to bed, but then his growling stomach made him realize he'd been so focused on editing that he hadn't eaten. He pulled some leftover pizza out of the fridge and stuck it in the microwave for a few minutes.
He stood in front of the microwave as it hummed away. He sighed out of boredom. Aside from the manhunt, he hadn't done anything particularly interesting that day; earlier that week, he'd made a list of things he wanted to do and places he wanted to go, thinking he'd get to some of them.
Oh well, he thought as the microwave beeped and he pulled the heated pizza out. There's always tomorrow.
After eating his hot but rather chewy dinner, George shut down his computer and headed to bed, looking forward to what the next day might bring.
