i can't be the only one who thinks you're a cardboard snowflake.

a/n: just to clarify- no, the title doesn't mean someone's literally got a snowflake made of thick paper as a head. the title is a metaphor for someone who's trying to fit in with the beauties and the rarities in the world, but who is framing themselves by making themselves into something similar to the beautiful and rare things they're trying to be. i really really hope that makes sense. if you get it, good for you (: if you don't get it, nevermind, it makes no sense anyway.

Their eyes scanned the pathways and corridors of truth,
Looking for the one who did not belong.
They found her cowering behind the bigger, brighter ones,
And they asked why she was trying to be like them.

"I simply want to be somebody's role model,"
She replied, "And I was getting nowhere as a nobody.
"If I become a somebody, somebody will see me not as a nobody,
"But as somebody they can see themselves looking like."

And the others shook their heads,
And said, "Take off the disguises.
"They make you more false than you are.
"Simply be who you are and somebody will look to you."

So the one who did not belong shed her mask,
And found a corner to sit in, feeling exceptionally nobody-esque.
And then a voice said, "Your somebody face didn't suit you."
She looked up to see a small somebody standing before her.

And the small somebody said, "Did you know,
"That nobodies are better than somebodies.
"Less people look to them, so they act more like themselves."
And she liked the somebody, and so she stood.

"Look," she said to the small somebody,
"I am off to be pure, to be myself and to love myself."
And so she went and was pure, and she loved herself for herself.
And she had many other somebodies, because she was somebody.

But she never forgot the big somebodies who taught her,
And especially the small somebody,
Who made her see herself in the Light of Truth
Rather than the Shadow of a Lie.
