Finn was sitting on a bench when I rode over to him. "Hey..." I felt weird and self conscious talking to him.

He looks up at me, giving me a small smile. I couldn't tell if it was forced or not. "Hey, wanna sit?"

"Sure." I tried to make it seem like I was normal, not wanting to fall from my legs that suddenly turned into jello. It felt strange. "Uh...I like your bike." I like your bike? Are you fucking kidding me? God I sound stupid.

He chuckles, looking at mine. "Hah, I like yours too. Ready?" It took me a moment to remember he was getting milk, getting back on my bike. I allowed him to lead me, talking on and off on the way. He mostly did the talking, I was just unsure on what to do with myself. I don't wanna come off as dry and stuck up but I also didn't want him to think I'm talkative and annoying.

"Do you...have much friends?" He asks hesitantly, checking my facial expression to see if I got upset. I wasn't.

"No, and I'd like to keep it that way. I don't trust anyone..." I gave him the truth.

"I completely understand." I pushed harder on my pedals as we rode up the hill, the grocery store coming in view. I sucked in a quick breath as we chained our bikes up, walking inside. The cashier glanced at us as we walked in, his eyes staying on mine a second longer. I didn't know I was holding onto Finn's arm, he didn't seem to mind though. I'm sure he could feel my tension if he was all the way in China.

I put one airpod on to relax me, listening to Pierce The Veil. Finn grabbed the milk while I grabbed a candy bar, glancing around before putting it in my bag.

"Y/n." Finn voice caught my attention, his eyes on where I hid the candy. "I can pay for that."

"Uh-"

"Hand it over." He says, trying to be serious. It was failing when I saw the corner of his lips desperately tugging upwards. I gave him a tight smile and gave in, watching him pay it. A group of kids walked in and I felt the blood drained from me. Sabrina and Chelsea, god what are they doing here? Last time I checked, they moved to the rich side of town. They always bullied me when I was in preschool, and it got even worse at the beginning of middle school.

I quickly tried to hide my hair behind my face as we walked out, passing them. My eyes were trained on the ground, glancing at Finn's beat up sneakers. They were laughing loudly, messing with the claw machine. It's not even five minutes and I already smell trouble. They'll notice me somehow if they're here. They always do.

"You good?" Finn snap me out of my thoughts, concern in his eyes. I nodded. "Yeah, let's just go. I-I don't feel so well."

"Okay..." He grabs my hand, making me gulp, looking back one last time. I let out a sigh of relief after we left the store. "Was it those girls?"

I raised an eyebrow, was I that noticeable? "That obvious?" He looks back at me, his eyes flickering over me "You kept glancing back at those girls and you didn't look so happy to see them."

"I don't wanna talk about it. They're just one of the many of people who gives me shit. You wanna go grab something to eat? You don't gotta pay, David always let's me eat a free meal."

"Who's David?"

"A guy I know, he's like an uncle to me. He owns this restaurant near my house. Are you down or not?" Finn takes a moment to consider my offer, I barely let him nod before riding down the hill as fast as I could. I heard him curse underneath his breath, trying to catch up to me. "Slow down!" I ignored his calling, whooping at the top of my lungs. Finn soon joins with me, right up until we arrived at the restaurant. Inside David and Alejandro played some cards at the front, smiling once they saw me.
