Although the others were not hugely concerned over Jungkook and Jimin's absence through dinner, Taehyung was becoming more agitated the longer the night drew on.

He had been concerned from the moment Jimin announced quietly to him that he wasn't going to join them back at the dorm, and had every intention of waiting for their maknae. Once this news had reached the others, they hadn't thought much of it. They knew Jungkook had wanted more time to practice, and perhaps Jimin there would be helpful company.

But Taehyung was growing concerned that Jimin's attraction to the young maknae would make him blind to Jungkook's own feelings. It made him nervous at the thought of his best friend attempting to make a move on the younger, and it going horribly, horribly wrong.

As the clock on his bedside table flickered midnight, he found himself slowly dropping into an inescapable sleep. The two singers had not yet returned but, in his exhausted state, he just had to hope that nothing serious would play out and both group members would return in one piece.

"And seven-eight-one... Yes! That's it!" Jimin clapped excitedly, dropping his arms from the routine's final ending position before turning excitedly to Jungkook, who was grinning widely. Had he got it right... Yes! He'd finally got it right!

"Aah Jiminie you're a genius!" he yelled, and, without thinking, bundled himself into the older singer, causing them both to lose balance and topple to the floor. The two of them howled with laughter, clutching their chests tightly as they lay side by side on the dance studio floor, small tears of happiness escaping down each of their cheeks.

But then, as an arm instinctively drew itself across Jungkook's chest in an affectionate gesture, a heated flush rose against his cheeks and he panicked. In moments, the ecstatic experience was lost as the youngest threw Jimin's arm off of himself and scrabbled frantically to his feet, "I uh-I need to-"
"-what the fuck?!"
Jungkook winced as the young adult who had only briefly prior to his own escape been in fits of melodic laughter, now screeched at him as he slowly began his retreat to the door.
"I'm sorry! I-I just need to-"
"No Jungkook what you need to do is stay right here and explain yourself."
"-I-"
"-You've been avoiding me for a month! For what reason?!"

And somehow, something clicked in the maknae's brain. He wasn't entirely sure why, but Jimin's actions were making him feel angry. It was as if, all at once, every action Jungkook had taken in the past month toward the elder singer was logically justified and Jimin, was unfairly challenging him. It wasn't alright. How could Jimin speak to him like-?

"How could you speak to me like that?!" Jungkook screamed. As the words passed through his lips, he seemed as shocked as Jimin was at such a response, "Don't forget you pushed me away first-!"
"-For a week! A week Jungkook! Not a whole entire month!"
But regardless of how unreasonable Jungkook's actions might have seemed to Jimin, the younger saw them as the only logical way forward.

"You never told me why," The maknae spat harshly, "Why, after spending hours being affectionate towards me, you suddenly decide you're going to avoid me? Am I that digusting a person-?"
"-No!" Jimin protested, desperately reaching out to his friend, but Jungkook only stepped back, flicking his outstretched hands away, "-Look, I'm sorry I avoided you, but I've tried to make up for it-"

" -By moping around me all day like a lost puppy, frantically searching for even a scrap of love?" Jimin froze. What was he talking about?
"For throwing yourself at me like some lovesick schoolgirl because you think it'll get you more attention with the fans? You really think thats 'making it up' to me?"

Ouch. Jimin knew he should have admitted his feelinhs then and there. He should have given the true explanation to his avoidance and desperation to get their friendship back. Surely Jungkook would understand then? But a part of his mind refused to step down from Jungkook's challenges. It made him furious, that his friendship would be described and considered in such a pathetic, meaningless way. A way that made him feel hollow, sick, digusted with himself... And Jungkook.
