Taco’s POV
That silly tube still hadn’t changed how to get into her lab, yet she still whined about others getting in. However, it does make my job easier.
Taco sneaked up to the vending machine and started tapping the buttons. A portal opened as she slid into the lab.
It was eerily silent, and unfinished projects were strewn over the counters. She slid up to a purple gun laying on the table.
It’s the dart shooting gun. The one they used on the suitcase...
She held it up and was about to take it, when she realised..
I cannot just take this. They would notice right away. It would be better off to look for… a prototype. It would be less likely for them to notice something like that missing.
Taco hurried toward another counter with laser shooting devices. She picked up an unfinished projectile shooter and stuffed the device inside.
Perhaps, this could work…
She noticed a calculator on a bench nearby. Or… maybe not a calculator.
The time machine?
As she reached out for it, a light in the other room flickered, then went out with a pop. As fearless as Taco wanted to say she was, she froze.
It’s nothing, just go back to what you were doing. It’s just… an old light that they didn’t replace.
Taco couldn’t help staring into the darkness and thinking of what could be waiting for her.
She blinked and ran out of the lab into the forest. The dark shapes and shadows of the trees waved back and forth on the ground. She tensed up and quickly pressed her bow.
I’m still vulnerable to attacks, she thought. No one’s here to stand guard for me.
She walked further, trying to melt into the shadows.
I need to do this by myself.
