Santana was so tired. Her life was so much more fun and exciting now that she'd gone from high school to the real world but it was exhausting, too.

She worked a lot of hours and studied all the time. In between classes, working, studying and seeing her spouses, she had little down time. Sunday was literally her only day to herself and then she spent it with her family.

She had no time to do anything mindless like blowing an afternoon at the mall. As much as it was meaningless, sometimes she missed it. Then something exciting would happen in her life that would make her think that shopping was stupid.

But she had to go shopping soon anyway because it was Karen's birthday and she was having a giant birthday party that Saturday.

Santana had no idea what to get her boss and friend. Should she take a class period off and go to the mall or what?

Maribel knocked on her door then poked her head inside. "Are you still studying?"

"No." Santana shook her head. "I'm trying to figure out what to get Karen for her birthday."

Maribel loved that and came in. She went to sit on her daughter's bed at her feet. "What does she like?"

Santana shrugged. "She's kinda tightlipped."

"You must have noticed something. Does she need anything?"

"I don't know. She's five months pregnant so... baby stuff?"

"It's her birthday, San. Not her baby shower." Maribel chuckled. "I think something shiny will do."

"I don't know if I'll have time to go shopping. I'm busy all this week and then her party is Saturday."

"Leave it to me." Maribel gloated.

"Okay..." Santana would leave it to her mother.

P.S.

Karen signed for the bunch of daisies and smelled them. "Chase is so sweet."

"Your boyfriend got you a bouquet of flowers?" Karen's personal assistant, Zoe George glowed.

"Yes, he did." Karen read the card from him.

The undergrad student squealed.

Santana smirked. "What are we doing today?"

"You're going to put together a presentation of sales projection for a bakery in the Hills." Karen said.

"M-me?"

"Yes, you. If it's good, you'll pitch it to the clients. Zoe will help you. I, on the other hand, will be taking a day for myself."

Santana couldn't wait to be in that sort of position. "Do I have to work my birthday?"

"What day does it fall on?"

"I'm not sure."

Karen smirked.

"I'll get back to you."

Karen grinned and left.

P.S.

Mercedes frowned as she went through her dress options. She didn't know what to wear to Karen's party but didn't want to upstage the birthday girl nor look bad.

Her lady's maid picked out a pantsuit. "What about this?"

"That's too severe." Mercedes knew that much. "The theme is gold."

"Should you wear gold?"

"No. The birthday girl is the only one wearing gold."

"What about white?"
