"Hercules! Lunch!" Rose called out to her grandfathers dog. She recently moved to her Grandpa Mertle's house for the summer and started taking care of Hercules for him
The big dog ran up to Rose and sat down, she laid the bowl of food in front of her and he dug in to his food
She heard a big crack and when she looked over, something had hit her arm hard
"Shit! Ow!" She says grabbing her arm, she looked down to see what hit her and she saw a baseball with writing on it
She leaned down and picked up the ball to see that it was the signature of the one and only Babe Ruth, she was admiring the ball when she heard yelling once again and rustling from the gate
She looked up to see 9 boys there looking over the fence in fear, she looked closely to finally notice it is the Sandlot boys that alway hit balls into the backyard
"Hey guy, lose a ball?-" She says raising the ball "-that pretty cool that one of you got a ball that was signed from the Great Bambino, but why the hell are you guys playing with this? It's probably worth more that your own lives" she finishes and the boys looked at her in shock
Hercules started to growl but Rose quickly calmed him down as she walked towards the fence and walked into a patch of bushes that lead to her secret way to get into the Sandlot easier
When she finally got over to the other side, Rose noticed the boys were still looking over the fence probably looking for her
"What are you guys looking at?" She says, they all got scared and some accidentally fell off the fence
"Ok now that you guys are all down, 1. Who's ball is this and 2. What's all your names?" She saying crossing her arms
"Hi it's my ball and I'm Scotty Smalls" the short blonde one says
"This is Timmy and Tommy Timmons, Alan McClennan but we call him Yeah-Yeah, Micheal 'Squints' Palledorous, Hamilton Porter, Kenny Denunez, Bertram Grover-Weeks and Benny Rodriguez" Scotty says and pointing to each one of them and they were all staring at her with shock
"Nice to meet you all, I'm Rose Mertle" she says waving to the boys "Oh Scotty, wait no I'm calling you Smalls. Here's your ball" she hand Smalls the ball giving him a smile
"Thank you Rose" he says returning the smile
She looks back at the others only to see them still staring "Uh, are you guys ok?" The boys all snap out of their trance to look at Benny
"You like Baseball?" He finally asks, she was wondering how they knew til she realized what she was wearing. She was wearing jeans, her Yankees jersey and Yankees baseball hat
"Hell yeah I do, ball has been my life since I was born. Especially since my grandfather played" she says with a big smile
"Ok meet us here tomorrow at 9?" Benny asks
"Sure, bye boys" she says and then hoping the fence with a huge smile on her face. She heard faint byes as she walked into the house
