The songs for this chapter are fine line by harry styles and young and beautiful by lana del rey.

These two songs are my absolute favourite of all time. No songs will ever beat the love I have for them. Me and these two songs are inseparable. I want to fall in love to these two songs, I want to get married to these two songs, I want to die to these two songs. All I need in life are these two songs.

Another day of classes went by- and yet another exam was completed and most likely failed- and I was now on my way to Ruel's rooms, already steeling myself for the silence which I knew I would  meet. Because the past few weeks Ruel had gradually been retreating more and more. The poems he read to me became darker and darker, his eyes became increasingly distant, and his skin grew paler by the day. And it was all very concerning really, but every-time I tried to talk about it he would insist that everything was 'better than ever'. And what could I say when those emerald eyes of his softened when they gazed at me, when those rose petal lips curved around delicate words... it was all quite unfair really.

I continued trudging through the patters of icy rain, a beanie tucked over my head, just managing to cover the tips of my reddening ears. Like absentminded clockwork, I climbed the steps near the gardens, walked up to Ruel's door, turned the faded metal of the doorknob, pushed the heavy wooden door open and—

And I nearly fell inside.

Before I had time to gather myself, I heard a movement from my left.

"Aster, I wasn't expecting you" Ruel greeted, standing in front of me wearing a red suit and matching leather shoes, as he held a phone to his ear.

Shit... he'd been in a phone call and thanks to my clumsy ass I'd probably gone and disrupted it. Noticing my guilty glance, Ruel threw his phone onto the couch with a small grin.

"I was finished anyway" He said simply, pulling me to him, his lips tracing the line where my hairline started.

"You're the only thing real here" He sighed, tilting my chin up to brush his lips against mine. His eyes were a dark, troubled green. It was one of those days... again. As expected.

I remained quiet, not daring to ask what he meant.

"I have to go soon, I have a class" He whispered.

"Can I stay here until you're back?"

He nodded absentmindedly already making his way to the door, his back hunched slightly and strides long.

"You'll be back soon, yeah?" I asked before he closed the door

"Of course" He drawled, voice musical before shutting the door with a heavy thud and leaving the scent of flowers in his wake.

And then I was alone. In Ruel's rooms. With all the time in the world. And nothing to do but wonder what was happening in that twisted, chaotic mind of his.

**

Six hours.

It had been six hours.

And he wasn't back.

Six hours.

Six hours, six hours, six hours.

And I was still alone, in his empty rooms shrouded by heavy darkness.

Frantically, I paced the room, hands running through my hair as I bit my lip. Andre had reassured me he'd seen Ruel during class... the class which had ended four hours ago.
