Chapter 7: The False Confrontation

Jaxen's P.O.V

I got out of the car. Aurelia's being a total bitch with the whole thing with Lailah. Now, Mitchell knows everything now about the Carlisles. After the death of Lexi and her siblings he parted ways with the whole family. He never had a real family. His mom was like us, a wolf which is the reason why Mitchell is also a wolf, and his father was never even part of the equation apparently. That was what Lailah told me about Mitchell, the whole thing about his dad leaving. The rest I found out from MItchell's right-hand man, Dillon.

I entered the compound and Dillon was standing right in front of a room. When I suddenly got really close to the door, Dillon grabbed my arm. Very tight.

"Let go of me, Dillon"

"Mitchell doesn't want to be disturbed. Specially not by you"

"Aurelia told me that he wanted to talk to me. And I'm going to tell you again, Dillon. Let go of my arm."

Dillon finally let go.

"Thanks"

"Whatever Jaxen. You've brought a lot of problems to this pack, you know. Mitchell would've never been mad with you if you had never gotten near to a Carlisle."

"Never knew getting close to Lailah was a crime"

"You should've known better than to mess with them."

"Why? huh? Because I'm not afraid of Mitchell, unlike you. I would never be Mitchell's little bitch but it seems like you've got no problem. And if Mitchell doesn't wanna be interrupted, tell your king he can stop being such an ass and look for me. Just because he's alpha doesn't mean he can treat us like shit."

Dillon just nodded to that. Was that too harsh? Why should I even care? Mitchell obviously had something serious hidden. Big huge secret. Aurelia would love to deal with that whole thing, she can stick her nose in everything. 

I got back to the car and sat in the driver's seat and Aurelia was still there. She looked at me and stared. 

"What is it, Aurelia?"

"Sorry. I just wanted to know what was going on with the whole Mitchell thing."

"Dillon was in the way."

"He stood in front of the room and grabbed your arm?"

"Yeah. How did you know?"

"Some guys in the pack have been complaining, but not to Mitchell. They complained to me. You say I'm such a bitch but I've been taking messages for you. The wolves that took a trip to the amazons, they wanted you to be the alpha. They hated the fact that Mitchell only cared on the fact that his late girlfriend would never come back and try everything to forget. Those wolves haven't returned. You were to busy with Lailah, and when Mitchell found out you were involved with the Carlisles he exploded."

"You could have lied to him like you did to everyone else about Maia. Thank you for that by the way"

"Don't worry about your sister Jaxen. She's safe with the other half of my pack"

"You can't have two packs Ariel"

"I know. The things I do for the Laut family..."

"We're very grateful"'

"I know... You should talk to Lailah's friends and see what they come up with. She can't be mad with you forever and things will get harder. We can't lie to Mitchell forever."

I know what I would have to do if things were to go south. But I couldn't live myself if I broke Lailah's heart she's been through enough garbage in her life I can't be another mess to the pile.
