Long awaited Chapter three...sorry it took so long. This story, as I've said before, is a lot harder to write than my others. There's so much more I like to put in, and I actually edit this one...lol.

Please vote and comment everyone!!!! I'd love to hear what you've been thinking about this one!

I felt every hair stand on end, and a chill run down my back as I entered the hall. My legs felt like jelly, and without Caius standing beside me holding me steady, I don’t think I would’ve kept moving forward.

We reached the front and I looked up at the council, massive dragons even larger then Septa loomed before me. I wondered if they were purposely looking intimidating just to scare me or if this was just how the council always seemed. Whichever it was, I was definitely terrified. I felt myself shaking from the idea of having to open my mouth. Septa had told me ahead of time of the dragons that headed the council: Theron, Kliudir, and Crein. They would be in control of this council meeting. It was never necessary for the entire council to meet unless a decision could not be made by the three. Crein and Kliudir were mates, but rarely ever agreed on decisions. Theron was the dragon in the center, large and gray. The atmosphere was cold, and he was staring at me with even colder gray eyes.

I felt myself shaking in fear as I gulped back the lump in my throat. A reassuring squeeze to my hand made me glance at Caius who nodded, giving me a small boost of confidence. I tried to remember what Septa had told me to say, not wanting to disrespect the council in any way.

“I Carina, descendant of Lekila, stand before the council requesting permission to seek the Eri.” I said, trying my hardest to keep my voice steady. I could feel it threatening to break under my fear as my legs shook harder beneath my flowing gown.

It was silent for a moment, all I could hear was my heart beating in my ears. The loud thumping an annoying drum keeping time as I waited for their response with bated breath. “We have been discussing this matter at length, young witch.” said Theron, considering my appearance as if he was only just seeing me. I suppose the dress had been a good idea, he seemed pleased, as did Crein and Kliudir. “The last person who attained the Eri, your ancestor, perished at an early age.”

“I know, she died binding Hiruk within the mountain.” I replied, feeling my voice waver slightly.

“I do not think the entire story was told to you, young one.” Kliudir said, her voice low and mystical sounding. It was the type of voice that could lull you to sleep, calming and serene.

I wrinkled my brow in confusion. “What do you mean?’ I asked, looking over at Septa to Caius and back to the council.

“Lekila was not killed merely by the spell she used. She had not yet correctly harnessed the power of the Eri. The power that went through her was too much to handle. It consumed everything within her, killing her as it released its full magic. The Eri, though it gave the power to bind Hiruk, took her life as the price.” Kliudir explained. Theron shifted as he gazed intensely down at me.

“It is important, Carina, that you understand all that comes with the Eri before you seek it. It requires high prices for its power.”

I gulped, but was mostly unphased. I already knew that it would have a high price to use that kind of power. I expected no less from magic. However, nobody had bothered to tell me the specifics of Lekila’s death, which would have been useful when I had my idea of following in her footsteps. That would have to be addressed.

I let out a sigh, and stepped forward, away from Caius. “I appreciate your concern, but I am adamant in my decision. I do believe the only way to stop Hiruk is through the Eri. Without it, I do not believe there is much hope. If I must die for everyone else, for the protection of both worlds, I do not see much choice.”
