YOU'RE MY BROTHER

Hi guys!

Today's OneShot is going to be about my favorite middle brothers, Raphael and Donatello.

To give you a briefing........

This is set after the events of the episode, Requeim. In that episode, Sensei dies. I know, I know, I'm an awful person but just hear me out! It's set a few months after his death and everyone's kind of moved on but Donnie's noticed a real change in behavior from his older brother Raph.

Note: There will be some themes about self harm, underage drug and alcohol abuse. This is rated mature for reasons such as this so you have been warned.

This will be told in Donnie's point of view.

Here we go again, I'm sitting in my lab, minding my own business when all of a sudden, my two older brothers start screaming at each other. It's been ten times worse since Sensei. Those two can't get out of their own ways. Leo's been acting like a total parent which I guess is what Sensei wanted him to do and Raph is acting like Raph. That rebellious teenager that just doesn't care. A few weeks ago he told Leo he was going over Casey's for a little bit and came back stoned to holy hell. Leo lost his mind. Screaming at him about how irresponsible he was for doing something like that. Raph obviously didn't care. He's been taking Sensei's passing really hard. And then when we killed the Shredder, things just went down hill from there. I get that Raph watched the whole thing but this is getting out of hand.

As usual, Leo says something that irritates the hothead and he storms off. Probably to go smoke more weed at Casey's. Whatever. If Raph wants to ruin his body and die at thirty, that's his prerogative. I'm not judging.

It had been a few hours and Mikey was all tucked into bed, Leo was waiting on the couch for the stoned Raphael to walk through the turnstiles and Leo can tear his head off with words. I've been sitting in my lab watching Leo for the last two hours and he hasn't moved. I decide that it's time to stop pretending that I'm an only child and walk out to talk to my oldest brother. I sit down next to him and sigh.

"Don't be so hard on Raph." I say. Not a great way to start the conversation but, I've got a point. He looks over at me with this expression that basically says 'how dare you!?' it's quite scary to be honest. When Leo makes faces like that, it shows how much he and Raphael look alike. Facially wise.

"What!?" He snaps.

"He's grieving, don't be so hard on him." I now push myself further away from my brother because he looks like he's going to pull an Achmed and kill me.

"Donnie, he's ruining himself."

"I know, but he's eighteen, Leo. There's not much we can do. He just needs time."

"Why are you defending him!?"

"I'm not."

"Yes you are."

"Okay, maybe a little. Do I agree with what he's doing? No! Of course not, Mikey looks up to him. But this is his way of crying out for help. Remember the time he broke Sensei's favorite vase? He was doing it so Sensei would talk to him. So he could vent. He's doing the same thing right now! He's acting out hoping you'll help him." Leo looks up at me like I'm some sort of genius. Then that look goes away and then some depressed looking one replaces it.

"No, he's not crying out for help, Donnie."

"Then what's he doing?" I think I know the answer to my own question, but I'd rather hear Leo say it than have me think it.
