A Human in a New World 2: The New Monster

Chapter 8

Blake's POV
We had been driving for quite sometime and we were nearing the perimeter they set up. During our ride I got as much information as I could about what we were dealing with. From what I got, pretty these creatures were designed to be hunters. They were quick and hunted in packs, making it difficult to fight them. I knew it wouldn't be easy but I would manage. When we drove up, I got out and we approached a tent. Upon entering, we saw a table with a map of the lab where the nest was. We surrounded the table and I knew it was game time.

Brittney: Kay, we don't have much time, and we need you out there as soon as possible Blake. Our objective is to destroy there nest and the most effective way to do so is fire. Fire is there weakness so we will be burning the whole place down. With that being said this is where you come in.

She then points to the map at a large room that is quite long and showed several tubes in it.

Brittney: This is the heart of their nest. You are to go with the bomb we made and plant it. Then get out before to goes off. We have sealed all the other entrance, so the only way out is the main entrance we opened.

Blake: Doesn't sounds too difficult.

Brittney: We wish if they didn't guard the entrance with everything they got. We know you can fight these things easily but due to there numbers, it won't be easy.

She then walks over to a crate.

Brittney: That's why we made you this.

She opened it and revealed a huge pack. It looked like a huge barrel and a tube came from it and connected to a gun, showing it was a large flamethrower made for Nemesis.

Brittney: We creates this, knowing that we would call you in. It contained more than enough fuel to get you in and out. You will have to hold the bomb, being the only downside.

I walked up to it.

Brittney: Suit up, we will meet you outside.

Everyone left, and I stood there, alone. I transformed and equipped the Flamethrower and pack. I walked outside and had to crouch really low when going through the doorway, and upon exiting some people backed away, scared. I walked over to Brittney who stood next to a large canister. I picked it up with ease.

Brittney: To arm it, simply press the button and the timer will go off. In the case the timer breaks, there is an energy switch on the back. Good luck out there.

I nod then left towards the nest, and as I walked I could see that these Lickers, as they learned they were called, did a number on them. I readied my flamethrower in case some of them were patrolling.

After a couple of minutes, I reached the entrance and saw that there was some kind of blood colored tissue covering the walls and floor inside. When I approached, I heard some skittering. I ignited my flamethrower when one of the creatures lunged. I blasted it with the flamethrower and it fell, burnt to a crisp. I then begin entering, scorching every Licker that tried to stop me. I entered a room and saw it matched the description Brittney gave me but the map showed it was deeper down.

I continued burning everything that moved, and upon reaching the other side, saw stairs. I walked to them and saw there was a large space, like a large square where the stairs wrapped around. I jumped down, and upon hitting the bottom, left a large indentation in the ground. I looked around and saw a room. I entered and upon entering saw that this had to be the heart as it matched the description but was covered with weird what appeared to be eggs. I entered slowly and as I walked pass these egg things I saw more of the creatures inside.

I simply looked away until I reached the middle of the room. I went to place the bomb when I heard something. Before I could react, one of the creature hit me knocking me back a bit. I was surprised by how hard they hit and then another grabbed my left arm, which held the bomb, and pulled me and threw me to the side of the room. I rolled a bit and slid. I then got up and saw that I had dropped the bomb. I quickly surveyed the room and saw the bomb on my side but not close. I then saw what seemed to be hundreds of them swarming from everywhere. I began running to it, quickly closing the distance.
