You knew you'd be called that night, the question was no longer if, but it had turned into when. When would you be called because your dumb best friend could no longer spell his own name. You don't really mind picking him up, you're usually awake anyways. For some reason playing games at night seems more fun than during the day. As if the night didn't bring the pressure of responsibilities like the day does.
You know Jimin is out, meaning that if you went to sleep you'd be awakened by a phone call eventually. It has become routine. So much that you'd even park your car down the street to not wake your mom when you'd drive off.
You don't like seeing him waste his weekends away like that but you'd rather pick him up than let hin go home alone. No doubt he'd trip and break something.
Putting your nintendo down and you check your phone, yawning when you see the time. 3:49 AM, exhaustion catching up and and your body aching to go to sleep. Tomorrow there's weekend practice, Jimin better hurry and get unbelievably drunk already.
You want to sleep.
You know you shouldn't look down on him, you've known him long enough to know what he's been through. To understand that this is his way of coping, you just wish there was a healthier way. Jimin isn't easy to figure out for anyone else but you— but you know how to read people very well in general.
To other's Jimin is just another popular guy, going to parties and getting girls and boys left and right. To them he's just a way to get popular.
But to you, Jimin is an entirely different person.
Your thoughts are interrupted by your phone buzzing on your thigh. Staring down at it, the display reads 'Jungkook'. Sighing you wonder why you have to come and drive all the way down there when your friends are already there.
Just before the call ends you pick up, raising the phone to your ear to softly speak up. "Hi."
The sound of distant music and party chatter is heard in the background, a distant laugh is heard along with unclear slurring that no doubt comes from Jimin.
"Hey, the usual." Is all Jungkook says, sounding a bit slurred as well but not too bad. It's all he has to say, everyone in their friend group is used to it by now.
You frown as a deep sigh leaves your lips. "Can't one of you drive him home?" Usually there's at least one of them sober enough to drive him home. Maybe they're all drunk, probably. Why else would they call?
"He doesn't want to, he threw a fit when we suggested Hoseok drives us home." Jungkook mumbles sounding a bit distracted. No doubt Jimin and Yoongi are doing something dumb, you can faintly hear Yoongi laugh.
"Order him a cab." The question is only for show, you know the answer.
"You know how he feels about cabs." Before you can say anything else you hear a struggle, Yoongi's laugh again and a string of curse words coming from Jungkook. You know what's next.
"y/n." Your best friend's voice sounds awfully slurred but it no longer fazes you. "Tell Jungkook to send me the location."
"So you're coming?" Jimin asks, dragging out the last word followed by a laugh that indicates how quirky he finds himself right now.
"Yes, now please give Jungkook the phone back."
"You sound so grumpy! You need to go out more and—" but before any more bullshit can leave his mouth you hang up, knowing the he'll fuss over it later but you'll deal with that when you get there.
