Chapter 15

(Samie's POV)

We were following Professor Mcgonagall to the medical wing. My heart was beating fast, too fast. Who could be at the medical wing. Before we entered she said, "I warned you, this could be a a wee bit of a shock." 

I was shocked If it was me who have been petrified.

"Hermione" Ron whispered

"Oh she was found near the library along with this"

She showed us a mirror. I began thinking of posible things of why Hermione has a mirror.

"Does it mean anything to either of you?" She asked

"no" We simultaneously said

After that encounter I told D everything about it.

"Hey D do you think Hermione's mirror has something to do with it?

"To be honest no that you mention it, I think it does."

"She was near the library when she was found so she was either studying or researching. And I think is the latter."

"I think so too."

A few days after we found out about Hermione been petrified me and D were in the library Trying to find anything that Hermione saw."

I found a book on creatures. As I was reading I saw it was ruined. There was a tear in the book. The title was about basilisks but the description on the next page were torn out.

"D come here. I think I found something."

"What is it?"

"Look there is a torn page about Basilisk. Do you know what a Basilisk is?"

"No not really, but maybe uncle Sev knows."

"Yeah you're right. He really did wants to be a DADA teacher so he should probably know."

We ran quickly to dad's office. Knocking on the door we heard him say "Enter"

We went inside and we saw saw grading some papers. When he looked at us he pauses everything he was doing.

"What are you both doing here?"

"We just want to ask something."

"Well, do go on"

"Um, dad do you know anything about Basilisks?"

He looked a little taken aback, probably not expecting the question.

"Yes I do know. The question is, why do you want to know?"

Me and D looked at each other then nodded knowing we can't lie to him.

"We were in the library a few minutes ago and we saw a book about creatures." I stated

"We were reading it until a page on Basilisk showed up. The next page was torn so we don't know anything about it."

"We were just curious." I added 

"Well a Basilisk is a giant serpent. It is a very dangerous creature. It's venom is deadly and can kill you. The cure of a Basilisk venom are very rare, some even classified it as untreatable. Just by looking at it's eyes you can be killed instantly. --

Now my turn to ask another question. Why were you two in the library reading a book about creatures?"

We gulped 

"You do know what happened to Hermione."

he nodded urging me to continue

"Well she was near the library when something petrified her." D stated

"And yes we know it is not unusual but the thing is she was holding a mirror."

"And we all know she doesn't mind what she looks like. Look at her hair for Merlin's sake." D said earning a slap on the back of the head.

"We thought she might have been researching of what the monster is that is petrifying students."

"We went to the library to search for anything related to creatures and monsters that can petrify people."I said

"Now that you told us about the Basilisk, Do you think the monster in the chamber is a basilisk? But then again nobody has died.

"I think you two are on to something. Basilisk will definitely kill you if you looked at it's eyes directly. Key word directly."

"Wait is that why Hermione has a mirror with her."

"She didn't look directly at the monster's eyes." D said

"Colin Creevey has a camera with him" I said

"Justin was with Sir Nicholas. He probably looked at the monster through Sir Nicholas." D said

"Well what about Mrs Norris?"

"I believe there was a puddle of water where Filch's cat was." Dad said 

"Oh my gosh the monster is a basilisk we nee to tell them dad."

My dad agreed and we went out to find grandpa. We stopped when Professor Mcgonagall announced something, "All students must return to their house dormitories at once all teachers to the 2nd floor corridors immediately."

I looked at dad with a worried face.

"Both of you go now I'll tell them."

"We're coming with you." I said

"Samie now is not the time. Go now." He said 

Me and D were going to the dungeons but I stopped him when I saw my dad out of sight.

"Come on we need to know what happened"

We then went to the 2nd floor corridor only to be bumped with Harry and Ron.

"Whatare you guys doing here?" Harry asked us.

"The same thing you guys are doing." I sassed back

We then saw dad, grandma, Poppy, and other staffs walking quickly. We hid in the other hall.

"As you can see the heir of Slytherin has left another message. Our worst fear has been realized a student has been taken by the monster into the chamber itself. Students must be sent home. I'm afraid this is the end of Hogwarts" grandma said

We looked at each other terrified of what she said. This can't be happening!

Lockhart finally showed up. "So sorry dozed of. What did I miss?"

I just rolled my eyes.

"A girl has been snatched by the monster Lockhart your moment has come at last." My dad said.

'Oh my gosh Harry we are doomed if they are depending on Lockhart'  

'I know right. They clearly know how fake he is.'

"M my mo-moment?" Lockhart stuttered.

"Weren't you just saying last night that you've known all along where the entrance to the chamber of secret is" My dad said

"That settled, we'll leave you to deal with the monster Gilderoy. Your skills after all are legend." grandma said.

"Very well, ah, I'll jus be in my office getting uh getting ready."

"Who is it that the monster's taken Minerva?" Poppy asked

"Ginny Weasley."

All our mouth was wide opened. I looked at Ron. She is her sister after all.

We read the blood message

"Her Skeleton Will Lie In The Chamber Forever."
