The water could barely be called waves. Even at this time of night, when you'd expect the waves to be heavier, they barely existed. Though the sky was dark and the only light provides was the moon and the faint twinkling of both city lights and stars, if you looked close enough you could see a faint silhouette of a person walking along the shoreline.
No one knew of her secret rendezvous. Why she went down to the beach so often. She was always there even after late night beach dwellers had left. She turned towards the ocean and watched the horizon as if waiting for someone. Even with her feet in the cold ocean, she wasn't chilled at all.
"Y/n. You came." A soft voice spoke from the water. Y/n looked up and smiled, recognizing the voice. From the depths of the ocean a figure emerged. Y/n walked out to the figure, the water reaching her waist. The two embraced and shared a short and sweet kiss before heading back to shore.
"Azul, it's getting to cold for me to come out this late every night. Surely we can come up with another meeting place." She said gently, sitting on the sand and burying her toes. Azul sat next to her but didn't say anything. Y/n noticed this and looked at him.
"Your brow is furrowed, is something wrong, my love?" Y/n asked, wrapping a gentle and loving arm around him. He looked at her with a small smile. "I've figured it out, Y/n. I'll make a contract with you." He stated with a slightly devious smile crossing his face.
"Wait, a contract? What price do I have to pay?" Y/n inquired. She was worried, of course. She knew of the prices people often had to pay for his contracts.
"Its so simple, we should've done it much sooner. You'll never have to be cold in the water ever again, and we'll always be able to be together. The price is losing your legs." He explained.
Y/n's face scrunched in disgust, but then realized he didn't mean her legs would be gone and have nothing to replace them.
"You can come and live with me, under the water. Please Y/n. I want to be with you forever." He continued on, taking her hands and holding them lovingly.
She went silent for a few moments, but for Azul, it felt like forever. Y/n thought about it before a smile graced her face, relaxing Azul.
"Of course, my love. You know I want to be with you, so I'll do it. I'll come live with you under the ocean." She whispered to him.
Azul smiled more and quickly created a contract, doing his best to make sure there would truly be no punishments for the love of his life. Once the contract was created, he gave it to Y/n, who signed without reading. She didn't need to, she trusted him.
The two kissed once more, as Y/n's legs transformed into a tail. As they broke apart, Azul picked her up and carried her deeper into the water.
"You were right," Y/n giggled, "the water is much warmer now."
Azul chuckled at her words and went under, transforming into his true form. He released Y/n from his hold and smiled as she opted to hug his arm.
The two swam off together, holding each other lovingly.
"I think I'll enjoy it here."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure you will."
The two laughed softly and disappeared into the black abyss of the dark ocean.
