Cassandra's POV.
I followed Alika as she led me through the massive mansion. I had tried to hold my surprise but don't blame a girl for being shocked, I mean so far we had passed at least seven rooms and we still hadn't arrived at the room Alika called 'mine'.
It was more like a house tour, though I wasn't really listening to her. Why would I need to know where the fifth guest room is? Its not like I was going to buy the damn house, I just needed shelter over my head for a few days before I figure things out.
"And this will be your room, before you oppose about it being small and stuff, let me mention the advantages. First of all, my room is just beside you. Xander's room is directly across you and also it has a walk in closet that's modified for chains and jewelry. Also it has a Jacuzzi in the his and hers bathroom not forgetting a balcony. "
You know when she had mentioned it was small I was expecting something more like a bunker bed with just some drawers and a bathroom with a sink and toilet cramped somewhere there. In short I was expecting something more like my room back at home.I don't even know why she considered Xander's room being across mine an advantage.
Instead it was the size of my whole house, including the porch and lawn, okay maybe I was exaggerating a little about the lawn, but it was freaking big. Someone could even throw a party here.
"I dont think I need all that, I just wanted a roof over my head and preferably some food just for the night then I can get on my way and not bother any of you."I said a little unsure about myself.I wasn't planning on sticking around to play hunger games with Amare.
All this space and her being nice to me was giving me anxiety. I wasn't used to associating with people, considering I raised myself from the age of twelve. I had learned not to trust people that much. Just like I did with Stuart.
"Don't be silly, you can stay here forever, plus it's free, it would be really nice to have some female company, I feel like I can never talk about anything with those two bastards around me. And since I'm not really allowed to go to the pack house, I have absolutely no one to talk to." Alika said.
I watched her eyes, searching for a hint of dishonesty, but all I saw was hope and a hint of loneliness.Maybe staying for a while wouldn't hurt. It is free so why not.
"Okay then i'll stick around a while" I said.
Alika's face lit up in a smile and I smiled with her. It was the first time I was genuinely happy about something. At one point I thought I had lost my sense of humor.
"Besides I dont think Xander would have let you go, considering the fact that Luis' killer is out there and might be dangerous since technically he/she did kill the most sought after criminal."
I thought about what she had said, I didn't want to pry anyway. It was none of my business to know who Luis is, or his connection with Xander.
"You'll need to shower so that I can show you the best part of the house" she said, looking a little too excited.
"Hm, and where is that" I asked.
"Don't be dumb bitch"she said looking a little disappointed."It's the kitchen you dummy"
Well, I guess I should take that shower.
Xander's POV.
The girls had left and so did the couple. The house had plenty of rooms, so I couldn't really guess which one Tamasha was placed in. It fascinated me how the two girls had connected so quickly. Alika wasn't really great with girls, specifically Beatrice. But that was a story for another day.
I had a criminal to catch. Luis' killer hadn't showed, probably because he/she was going to strike again. Maybe Luis was just a warning. Alika had said that maybe whoever did had just wanted a good deed done since the guy was, well, a criminal. But I needed to ensure that my people were safe.
I had called Ethan to brief me about the search parties and the guards on my territory. How had Tamasha gotten in without a trace yet my men were all over the place. Ethan being the beta was something temporary. I didn't even understand how the guy worked. But he had proved his loyalty more than once. He was even one of my best men.
Luka was the official beta, but after his trip to Africa to find love, I had to appoint someone to take his place for a while. Well until he set his priorities straight.I supported him fully though. I wanted him to live the life we both wanted. Ethan didn't even have the power of a beta. I didn't want the previous beta to transition the power to him yet. In case Luka changed his mind.
I watched as Ethan walked in with a bunch of files on Luis and his men and also the territory reports. He explained in detail what he had gathered on both cases, not much really, but at least he was trying. Time went by so fast I hadn't even realized it was now dark.
"The guards on the boarders also said that they haven't picked up any rogue scents but a girl had crossed into the territory and she had no scent, I presume the girl is Cassandra, and she was with Sebastian last time I checked. So I'm pretty sure you knew about it"he said.
"Is Cassandra, Tamasha?" I asked a little confused. Alika had told me she's called Tamasha so I just went along with it, thought maybe Amare had told her about it.
"Yeah, full name is Cassandra Tamasha Amari, her mother died six years ago in an accident at work. Lives with her father. She never exactly told me about her personal life. She maintained her popular status well, fit in the role perfectly with all the make up on her face. I was totally convinced she was human until she almost sucked me dry. " Ethan said.
I turned to check his neck and I realized he was completely healed. Amare must have given him some blood to heal the bite. I felt exhaustion catching up on me so I dismissed Ethan. I needed a drink and some food.
I walked toward the kitchen hoping Alika had not finished all the food. That girl and food, it was like her stomach had multiple compartments.
I walked directly to the fridge.I was welcomed by vegetables and fruits. Great just great. I mean what's the point of buying food if I'm not going to eat it. I grabbed the milk and poured it in a glass. I made a sandwich and was about to leave when I saw Tamasha sitting on one of the stools on the kitchen island. He face buried in a book.
I wondered if she even knew I was there. Her eyebrows were scrunched up in concentration as she pouted. I can't believe she hadn't heard me. She placed the book on the island, I looked at the time and it was approaching two am. What was she doing up, wasn't she supposed to be tired. She did have an operation today. That might have given my pack surgeon trauma, but that's beside the point.
I cleared my throat, a little surprised she still hadn't acknowledged my presence yet I had been staring for the past five minutes. She finally looked up, he cheeks flaring up to a red pinkish color as she realized it was me.
"Sorry alpha, I will now head to my room, sorry for disturbing your peace. I didn't realize you had walked in"she said in a monotone voice already starting to leave.
Before I could register what she had said I heard a door lock somewhere upstairs. Only specific people called me alpha. In this house everyone either called me Xander or never called me at all. Technically because only Alika and Amare lived here. Not like Amare stayed here permanently, he still had a castle in the North, But he said it was too dark and cold for his liking. He only went there when his master wanted to see him.
It sounded forced when she said it though. Like she was obligated to. Did Alika prank her into calling me alpha?
Well, tomorrow might be a good day to ask. Now , a man needed his beauty sleep.
