The battle of Ice

        Cries were heard, monsters were roaring, the earth was trembling as Duke Shawn's army invaded Frost City. The chaos awakened the king and queen from their sleep, and they quickly headed out to their balcony to see what was going on. They were really shocked to see that their precious and peaceful kingdom was under attack. Monsters and troops invaded the palace destroying everything good in sight.

        "Power of Ice, power of life, be my strength, be my guide, so that those who see my light, shall behold Frostasia's might" the king and queen recited and in the blink of an eye, their clothes were replaced with the royal crystal armor which only the royals wore for battle. As the king and queen headed out for battle, they asked Millicent, a good friend of the queen and a skilled warrior to hide away with their daughter in the Netherlands, away from the dangers in Frostasia.

        It was indeed a battle of ice. Ice crystals, weapons and beams plunged from every corner of the palace. Suddenly a stray ice beam hit the king hard on his chest and he fell to the ground. "No!! My King!!" the queen cried out in tears as she reached for the king. "Williams! Williams, you can do this, you can survive this. I know you can. You're the king of Frostasia. The kingdom needs you. You need to fight. You need to fight for Frostasia and more importantly for me and our daughter. I love you so much my king. Please get up" the queen wailed holding the weak king in her arms.

        "Ughh, enough with the lovey-dovey stuff. You guys are seriously making me cringe" Duke Shawn snapped as he entered the scene. "Shawn? What are you doing here? Please... help me up" the king cried as he reached out his arms to Duke Shawn. Duke Shawn leaned towards the king and spat on his face. "You truly are despicable Williams. Curse you!" Duke Shawn said as he squeezed the king's hand painfully. "Shawn, what did my husband and I ever do to you that you had to do this? You even dragged the entire kingdom into this mess" the queen said as she looked at Duke Shawn furiously. Duke Shawn laughed and said "Mess? This isn't a mess. What's a mess is Frostasia being under your rule. I'm only making the kingdom a better place for everyone. I'm happy and so are the people."Duke shawn said. " Those people you say are happy are crying in pain. And to think my husband, the king, took you as his best friend and made you the duke. I hope you rot in hell for the rest of your life." the queen barked.

        Seeing that the king was very weak and that the queen was too busy mourning him before his death, Duke Shawn went outside with his troops to address the grieving people assuming that the king and queen were too weak to try to escape "My dear...it's okay..." the king whispered. "No, don't speak my king. You are weak and should save your energy" the queen interrupted. "Listen to me first, dear. It really hurts me...to see our precious kingdom this way. It's all my fault. I should have been a better judge of character...when I met Shawn..." "No, It's not your fault at all. Who knew there were demons in form of angels" the queen interrupted again.

        "You must go now. Escape with Millicent and our daughter." the king whispered. "What are you talking about? I can't just leave you here all alone with these monsters after everything we've been through together. Come with me and our daughter. We can all escape to the Netherlands together" the queen said as she cried. "And have them follow us? I won't allow that. Go I'll cover for you." the king said as he gathered his last bit of strength to fight Duke Shawn's army. As the queen was about to leave, Duke Shawn returned with his army and the king attacked without hesitation. He distracted Duke Shawn's army as the Queen tried to escape but was reluctant to leave the King " Go! Save yourself! I'll fight for our love, our daughter and the kingdom until the very end! Go!" the king exclaimed. The queen left with the king's words in her heart. "You good for nothing fools! The queen has escaped. Find her this instant! And look for the princess as well!" barked the evil Duke Shawn. His army spread out to find the queen. Not long after, some men from his army came back and told him that both the queen and the princess were nowhere to be found. "You idiots. Why can't you do anything right?!" He said as he hit his men. Duke Shawn set out to go looking for the queen and princess himself to make sure they wouldn't escape. The king held him to stop him from leaving. "Please spare my wife and daughter. I beg of you. They have nothing to do with this" the king said. "Let go of me Williams" Duke Shawn yelled as he shot an ice crystal into the left side of his chest. With his last breath, the king said "may the power of ice and life be your guide, my dearest daughter, Fiona, so that those who see your light shall behold Frostasia's might."

        Duke Shawn left to search for the queen. The queen was already headed towards the northern Frostasian gate which opens a portal to the Netherlands. She caught up to Millicent and her daughter and they continued the escape journey. The queen heard Duke Shawn shouting her name from a distance to show herself. She knew someone had to stay behind to stall Duke Shawn so she did the needful. "Listen, Millicent, I entrust my daughter's life and safety to you. Getting her out of Frostasia is the only way we can be rest assured that there's still hope for us all and the kingdom. This is an enchanted crystal pendant which has been passed down for centuries to the queens of this kingdom. It contains great power from the past queens and when mishandled could bring great danger. Take it. Give it to my daughter when she is five years old as a gift from her father and I. I believe it would be useful one day. Take this book with you too, it contains all you need to know about the pendant and guide it with your life. When you get to the northern gate, recite these enchanted words, 'gate of ice, gate of frost, open up and let us cross, though we belong there not, lead us not into lost. Now go. May the spirit of past warriors guide you" the queen said to Millicent as she kissed her daughter goodbye. "Yes, my queen" Millicent answered and left. The queen sealed the path to the gate with ice so that it would be really difficult to get to Millicent and her daughter in order to buy them enough time to leave. The queen didn't have enough time to finish sealing the path until Duke Shawn found her. Unfortunately, she had left an unsealed end. "You would have to go through me before you can get to my daughter, you monster" the queen cursed. "Alright then, my queen, let's dance" Duke Shawn replied. The queen fought courageously. The scene was intense. Ice crystals shot out in every direction. Duke Shawn defeated the queen with four ice beams that blasted at her almost at the same time. She couldn't stand the pressure and she fell. As she gave up the ghost, she said "may you find peace and happiness in your life my dearest princess, Fiona. I love you."

        Duke Shawn noticed the loose end, which would make it easier to break through the ice and started breaking the ice from there. Then he went after Millicent and the princess. He caught up to them just as Millicent was about to say the enchanted words to open the gate. Duke Shawn blasted an ice crystal at them. "Oh no! He found us. There's no backing down now" Millicent said as she put down the princess and charged at Duke Shawn. "You're not so bad after all. No wonder the queen entrusted her daughter's safety to you. I'll make you a deal, join my army and no one gets hurt." Duke Shawn suggested. "Never!" Millicent yelled and she charged again at Duke Shawn. He dodged her ice crystals and blasted three crystals at her. She dodged them all but one of the crystals hit the rock close to the princess and it frightened her. Duke Shawn cackled with a sense of delight seeing the princess's state.. Millicent, took his moment of distraction to knock him out with a blow. She then recited the enchanted words. The portal opened up and she crossed over to the Netherlands with the tender princess. The princess lives as Summer and Millicent now lives as Melina, normal commoners in the Netherlands, safe from Duke Shawn and Frostasia's dangers. But Millicent was certain that they hadn't seen the last of Duke Shawn.
