Rudy Takes On Boston

*Fast forward to winter break for Aspyn's college*

These past few months have been difficult not being able to see Rudy. I've been crazy busy with school and he's been working like crazy on new projects. He has gone home for the holidays and my semester ends in less than a week. However after I spend Christmas with my family I'm flying to Alaska! All of these flights have been adding up over time so my Christmas present from my family was the plane ticket. We FaceTime all the time but the time zones are hard to keep up with especially since I like to bed early. We have tried our best to make it all work and I'm proud of us. There was one short time period where we got annoyed with each other because our contact/communication was off but that was to be expected. Forgetting all of that now as I'm packing to head home.

Christmas with family was great and I loved seeing all my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I seriously love my family and I always love seeing my favorite aunt who is like my best friend and mentor all in one. However now it is time to head to Alaska. I'm super nervous because it's my first time meeting his family in person. I just want them to like me and to click with his family. I hear my phone and see an incoming call from Rudy.

"Hello!" I greet him.

"Are you all packed?"

"Yes I'm seriously just watching the minutes pass before I leave for the airport."

"Me too. So I'll be there to pick you up, okay?"

"Yes. Okay."

"Have a safe flight and text me before you take off" Rudy told me.

"Sounds good. See you soon!" Blowing a kiss into the camera before hanging up. Within the next hour my dad dropped me off at the airport and hugged me goodbye. He's obsessed with Alaska so he wants me to take pictures and tell him all about it when I get home. I couldn't wait to do that for him. Anyways I cleared through security and was on the plane in no time. After many, many hours anxiously sitting on the plane, we finally landed. When I got service I texted Rudy and he said he was waiting for me. I didn't know about Rudy but I was dying to see him. I got off the plane and was looking everywhere to spot him as I continued walking toward the baggage area. My heart seriously skipped a beat when I saw him and a huge smile spread across my face. His face lit up too as he ran up to me.

"I've missed you so much" he said as we squeezed the life out of each other.

"I'm so happy" I say and kiss him. He grabs my suitcase and puts his other arm around my shoulders as we walk out to his car.

"I'm so nervous to meet your family" I tell him again.

"I know you are but they are going to love you so you shouldn't be" he comforts me.

Within a few minutes we pull into his driveway and I let out a big sigh. He opens my door for me and we grab my bags then walk inside. Instantly I am greeted by his parents who are too sweet.

"It's so nice to finally meet you!" His mom greeted me.

"You too! It feels like forever" I respond.

She brought me in for a hug and I shook his dad's hand. Then his brothers appeared from their room and Rudy introduces us. They all seem like great people and I couldn't be more happy to spend a week here. Rudy brought me to his room to get me settled in before dinner.

"Wait I'm staying in here with you? In your parents house?" I asked.

"Yeah why?"

"This would not fly at my house" I told him laughing.

"Most definitely not" he agreed.

We went back out and helped his mom prepare dinner-but she wouldn't let me help out too much.

"So you're going to college to become a nurse right?" She asked me.

"Yes and and then I'll continue to become a midwife."

"That's incredible. Do you think you'll stay in Boston?"

"I'm not sure yet. Definitely for school but there are many travel programs that spark my interest but Boston will always have my heart."

"Oh I can imagine" she said then called everyone to the table to eat. Dinner was amazing and we ended the night with a board game. I was quick to go to bed since I had a long day of traveling and time change so everyone understood. Rudy joined me and we laid and talked before falling asleep.
