"So what's the gist?" Alex asked me as we sat at our favorite spot in school, the carteen.

"And you're calling me aproko?" Amanda retorts

"See this organism oh" Alex laughs

"You guys want to play love abi?" I asked smiling

"Tah" Amanda rejects while Alex hisses

"Oya talk na" Alex whines

"Yesterday night, I was chatting with Clinton, he told me I'm his crush" I explain

"Alu!" Amanda shrieks in igbo

"He's looking for another pant to enter" Alex hisses

"Ha! Alex wash your tongue oh, spoil brat" Amanda curses him, "So what did you say?" She asked me

"Nothing oh, I left it on seen" I reply

"Good girl" Alex claps for me

"Have you seen him today?" Amanda asks

"Not yet" I frown "Things will be awkward"

"Don't worry we're here for you" Amanda pats my back.

The bell for devotion rings

"We are students of victobela academy
We will shine our lights
We will make our parents proud
And prove our teachers have worth!"

The whole school says the school pledge as Me Edidiong walks up to the podium.

"Good morning students!" He greeted us with his thick akwa-ibom tongue.

"Good morning sir!" We all replied him.

"As you know we resumed from our midterm term break yesterday, and our classes have started completely. I advice you as good students that you should continue reading, be attentive and of good behavior. Am I clear?"

"Yes sir!" We all echo

"Good! You can move to various classes"

"Hi Timi" Clinton says as I settle into our seat.

How can I talk?

"Hey ..Good morning"

"Hey baby" Ebiere's high pitched voice rang through the class as she walks towards the both of us.

"Ebi, this is school" Clinton warned her after their hug

"I know I'm sorry" she smiles "Hey Timi, I didn't notice you"

"Hi Ebiere" I smile back at her.

"So Timi tommorow on Saturday is my birthday and I'm having a party, you're invited"

I'm not falling for that evil plan

"Thank you but I won't be able to make it."

She frowns "Clinton beg her for me now"

"Ebiere she says she can't make it now"

"Clinton come oh" Tochi caller from our back, Clinton hugs Ebiere again then walks away.

"I know the chat you and my boyfriend had last night, don't get your hopes up, we had a quarrel and he got drunk, he'll never pick someone like you over me" Ebiere says and walks out.
