Part Twenty - Baby blues

You got back to the lake and it was starting to get dark.
You opened the door chatting away to Dames and as soon as you walked through a chorus of welcoming voices greeted you.
Keith pushed through the crowd to greet you with a hug and a warming smile. "You're so brave Y/N, we're all so proud. And if you need anything.." he pulled away from you and held you at your shoulders "if you need ANYTHING, you can ask any of us."
You gave a thankful smile and pulled him in for a hug again.
You worked your way through everyone, them all giving you hugs and warming words.
You finally got to Shayne who was patiently waiting for your attention leaning against a wall with his hands in his pockets. "Hey pumpkin." he said softly.
By this point everyone had dispersed and it was just you and Shayne in the entryway. "Hey." you replied not trying to hide your smile. You lingered in silence for a few seconds before Shayne spoke "Well?" he said. Your confused expression caused him to explain further. "Do I get a hug?" he said stretching his arms out to you.
Your confusion turned into happiness as you dropped your bag and almost ran to him.
He enveloped you in his arms, his large build comforted you even further. Your face sunk into his chest and he placed a hand on the back of your head.
You felt at home.
You pulled away from Shayne and looked deep into his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I love you" you whispered.
Shayne's jaw dropped, his eyes were as bright as stars staring back at you. The corners of his mouth twinged a smile until his whole face was gleaming an ear to ear smile. He bit his lip before looking at yours, then back to your face. He pulled you into a long passionate kiss, sending shivers down your spine. When you finally pulled away he put his forehead against yours. You gazed deeply into his baby blues. "I love you too Pumpkin" He whispered back.
