turn off the lights
and look to the sky
and drown in the darkness
let it cover your soul
let it fill all the holes
left behind from the years
by words that they said
could never really hurt,
but they burn and tear
into our skin
burrow in our bones
wrap around our soul
but alone in the nighttime,
the holes are all filled
the pain washed away
by an invisible sheild
that takes all the feeling
and wipes it away
as the lights go out
and so does the day
our worries are gone
and our thoughts all now frozen
as we look to the sky
and turn off the lights
