Chapter 5

Zeke's POV

She managed to lose me. How did we lose our mate. We searched everywhere for her but her scent was gone and so was she. My mom linked me to come back and I reluctantly did.

"Why did she run? We need to find her!" I said as I walked in the office where everyone was included Margaret or Maggie as she insisted we called her.

Maggie looked heartbroken as she replied with the message Lucky sent her before she crossed the border. I ran my hands through my hair in frustration. I did not care about us having pups that were ours. We could adopt for all I cared I just wanted her. Yet her past had damaged her so much she didn't even trust our bond enough to let me tell her that.

All of a sudden a male ran into the room panting and began signing rather quickly. I could barely keep up with what he was signing but once I understood him I had him pinned by his throat.

Maggie why did Lucky cross the border? I tried to stop her but she blocked my link and I was too far away to catch her. I think i know where she's going as we had planned to meet up if she escaped before her 18th birthday.

This male was too close to my mate for my liking but Eva and Weston pried me off of him as my father signed him back.

Sorry about my son but Lucky is his mate. Where is she going? She got some bad news about her reproductive health and took off. Believes Zeke is better off without her so she disappeared.

He nodded his head understanding before signing back. I understand but I can show you she may listen to me and come back. If not you guys can help me bring her back.

We all agreed to follow at a good distance away from him and set up a link so we could communicate in wolf form. There was something I did not trust about this male. He seemed much too concerned with my mate for my liking. But he was my only shot right now at finding her.

As we stayed behind him just far enough see him I couldn't ignore the uneasy feeling inside of me. I felt as if this Alex guy was hiding something and it was not something good. We ran for about an hour when he told us she was just beyond the clearing so he was gonna shift and talk with her first.

We had been waiting for about twenty minutes and my wolf became panicky. He pushed forward and caused me to rush into the clearing. What I saw caused us both to completely lose control.

Lucky's POV

I had been running for about an hour when I finally got tired and stopped in a clearing. I shifted back painfully slow but quicker than earlier. I just laid in the field and sobbed. I was finally free of that pack but at the cost of my mate.

It didn't matter if he was my mate or not I could not in my right mind allow him a life of misery by being with me. I don't even know if I could ever fully trust a male, mate or not. Especially since the last male I trusted destroyed that trust.

I had no idea how much time I spent sobbing but movement out of the corner of my eye caused me to sit up on alert.

When I noticed it was Alex I froze in fear. He smiled at me as he began signing.

You had me so worried doll. I thought I had lost you for good.

I shook my head as I began backing away from him while signing.

Stay away from me!

Why would I do that? I love you and you love me. I do not care if you can have pups or not we belong together.

I shook my head tears streaming down my face. No I don't love you I never did! You were my friend but you broke that trust when you raped me! You raped me every night Roland didn't! You violated me when ever you could and destroyed any trust I had left! Then you tricked me with the tracker! That's all it ever was it wouldn't have killed me and I could've been safe from you, Roland and that despicable pack!
