This is kinda long overdue as well, but as I was browsing through random playlists (I'm that type of person, yes), I came across this song and thought I could incorporate it with a Diana oneshot.

☆°•¡°•♡•°¡•°☆

A certain periwinkled-eyed elf was kicked out of their own apothecary because he ended up blowing up things more than usual.

His father couldn't take how many elixirs he wasted, or how many glass shards ended up stuck to their lab coats.

"Go out and take a breather," his father told him "and feel free not to come back soon."

In short, leave.

He went out to take a walk, trying to think things through.

What exactly made him so distracted?

As soon as he stopped looking at the ground, he saw numerous couples enjoying the sun out after weeks of rain.

That's when he remembered- it was because he was confused.

There are days when he thinks that Biana is into him, but there are some days where she looks like she likes Tam.

Tam's feelings for the girl aren't that much of a secret either, so shouldn't he just be happy for them when they finally get together?

He sighed, kicking a lone pebble on his path.

She is a Vacker, and no matter how many rumors circle around Tam- Shade, twin, too overprotective of a brother- he will always be a better match.

Even the matchmakers believe it, too.

Biana got him as her 6th, and even though no one knows Tam got his scroll, he overheard Lihn and Sophie talking about how happy he is to see Biana's name on his 4th.

While he...

Nevermind.

It'd just make him pity himself more.

After walking for a little bit more, he stumbled upon a shop that he thought Biana would frequent to.

Gah-! Why do you always have to think of her?! he thought to himself. Stop thinking about her just for even one millisecond, can't you?

He firmly shook his head, as if it the thoughts would fade with it.

"Dex?"

Great.

Now he's hearing her voice, too.

"Hey? Dex!"

No, no way.

A girl like her wouldn't step foot in Mysterium, let alone call him out.

"Dex, wait up!"

Yep, this is just his mind playing tricks.

Nothing out of the ordinary.

But, his pace got quicker everytime that voice resurfaces from the crowd.

Oh, dear god of coincidences, please tell me I'm hallucinating!

A hand on his shoulder stopped him from going further, and at the same time forcibly turned him around.

"Why are you running away?"

He just wantes to melt there and then, realizing that everything was real.

The voice.

The hand.

The Biana.

"...fancy meeting you here!" he replied, sounding so unconvincing at all.

"...I'll pretend that's the case," Biana said,
removing her hand from his shoulder.

"Anyways, I was hailing you but you weren't answering. That's why I went to your shop but your father said you were out," she explained to no one in particular.

"Yeah?" Dex asked, finally turning around to face her. "What subject is it? Alchemy? Multispecesial Studies?"

"What?" she asked, bewildered.

Dex narrowed his eyes at her reaction, sensing it wasn't what she was expecting. "Well, why are you hailing me if it isn't about an assignment?"

"Dex," Biana started, placing a hand on her hips "is there any reason a friend should hail or look for a friend?"

Friend.

Of all the words she said, it was the only one that stuck in him.

Dex let out an awkward laugh after seeing her raise her eyebrows expectantly.

"Riiiight," he said, prolonging the word as to not sound mean. "I'm your friend," he added.

Biana doesn't understand a thing, but she just let it slide thinking that Dex must've a lot of things on his mind.

"Since we're out here, do you mind accompanying me for a while?" Biana asked, which Dex answered "Okay," shrugging as he did.

Biana grabbed his hand, intertwining her fingers with his, smiling at him as she said "Let's go then!" before dragging him with her.

He may be a friend right now, but he's pretty sure no friends hold hands like they do.

Only time will tell what his role in her life is, but he can't help but expect something more than the word friends.
