SOKEEFE
Sophie Foster & Keefe Sencen

Keeper of the Lost Cities, Shannon Messenger

"Will you be my girlfriend, Foster?"

Keefe chucked another boquet of roses inside Sophie's locker, with the same note attached to it.

Yesterday was red and white roses, this time, it was yellow and mint. She never got to know how Keefe can procure all those different colors, but she can't deny that it was beautifully arranged.

Sophie had rejected him as many times as he had confessed to her, but it never made him stop.

It wasn't just roses, he did all the crazy, unimaginable surprises for her, even while knowing that he'll get rejected. Again.

But, there's something that makes her feel and think that today's going to be the last day of Keefe's surprises.

The reason? She wasn't sure.

She shrugged off the uneasy feeling growing in her as she flipped the note.

Favorite ditching spot. After class.

"So that's where we'll meet today, huh," Sophie mumbled as she took out the flowers and placed the note inside her right pocket.

She wasn't sure where today will lead her. All she knows is that... it's about time.

"I thought you wouldn't come."

Those were the first words Keefe told her today. Not 'I'm confessing again if you don't mind,' nor 'Miss me that much, Foster?'

To add, his usual smirk and composure was gone. In fact, it made Sophie quite nervous, even without knowing what's wrong.

"I always do," she simply answered. She hid her quivering lips with the boquet Keefe gave her, but he knew she was quite jumpy.

He was good at getting a feel of other people's emotions, and that didn't exclude her.

"Yeah." Keefe nodded in agreement. Sophie was waiting for the next words he'd say, but it just never came out of his mouth.

The silence stretched on, and it was killing her slowly. Was there a time when she felt that way around him?

Sure, Keefe was irritating. He never knew how to give up and kept bothering her, no matter how much she pushes him away.

But, these confessions and after class meetings became part of her daily life. It became her breather from her monotonous, ever-repeating days.

Sophie never thought there'd be a day she'd actually think that it was fun, and she enjoyed every bit of it.
