Typical Beginnings

6:00 am.

I wake up startled. Evil nightmare demon 1, Bellamy 0. I turn off my alarm and get ready for school. I live alone in a small shit hole apartment. And yes, i'm still in high school. And no, people do not know about my living condition and they wont ever know about it. I'm all good here really. I mean sure it's the size of a closet, the neighbors smoke so much weed I probably reek of it even if I've never smoked and there is probably some sort of structural problems that might kill me but i'm not dead yet so that's gotta be a win. I think.

Anyway, I gather my stuff, attempt getting rid of the weed smell with a shower, pop in my earbuds and start walking towards school. To give context, i'm not a tragedy. My parents happen to be sorta rich but they never exactly wanted a kid. Much less a gay anarchist. Last time I checked they're still alive on some sort of beech living the life while I, try not to put too much of a dent into their lives. Basically, I live in a shitty house so I don't take too much of their money. They pop in maybe once a year just to make sure i'm alive and not in prison but other than that i'm on my own out here. Just minding my business.

I switched schools recently because let's just say that when the principal has a dickhead child, I do not hesitate to be a dick to said child. So, naturally, they no longer wanted my presence at that school but i'm not too bothered. I can move along. It's a much longer story than it seems anyway. So as I stand in front of this massive building that is apparently supposed to be my school, I question if I should have just dropped out instead. But then I think about having to live off my parents for the rest of my life and I start making my way towards the entrance.

I am immediately shoved to the side by the force of a hallway that i'm guessing is far above maximum capacity for students and I try to find a classroom, office, anything so that I can get to someone who may know what they're doing in the hopes that I can finally get my schedule. I don't understand why they don't just email it but I did just get here. I won't start complaining quite yet.

"Hey! Hey you!, Dude! Over here!"

I look over and see a student that looks like a golden retriever in a way that I do not understand. I glance at him and then turn around to see who he's trying to talk to.

"No! Wait! Turn around! You! "

I point at myself and he nods.

"Hey i'm Isaac"

"Uh hi Isaac?"

He smiles a bit and goes:

"And you are...."

"Right! I'm Bellamy"

"You look lost. You need a hand?"

"Uh sure, I guess"

He nods and brings me to what I assume to be the office where I am greeted with a smiling lady with red hair who I assume to be the receptionist. Isaac points her way and quickly waves goodbye before heading off.

"Hello! I'm Jackie, whatcha lookin for hun?"

"Hey... Jackie. I think this is where i'm supposed to find my schedule."

"Hmm don't tell me.. you must be Asher!"

"Huh?"

Just then the door opens and a tall guy with black hair walks in and makes his way towards us.

"Hey you're Jackie right?"

"I am... and who might you be?"

"Asher Dungslow"

"Ohhh I see what happened here. So if you're Asher then you.." She points towards me. "Must be Bellamy Clark"

"Yeppp that's me"

"Well i'll be dammed I did not picture you to be the type of kid that would get expel-"

"Uh do I have any spares this year!" I tried to interrupt her as fast as I could I do not know Asher therefore I do not trust Asher with any sort of information about me. He glances at me but seems to brush it off.

"Sorry hun, it doesn't look like it. But ill hand you your schedule now and i'll get Mr. Heenan to bring you and Mr. Dungslow to your first period class.

"Thanks" I say and Asher follows with a quick nod.

I look over at my schedule and it seems that I have English, Biology, Art and then Math. Not too bad I guess. To be honest i'm not the biggest fan of school but as school has never seemed to be the biggest fan of me either, I just do what I have to to be able to eventually be financially independent and no more.

Asher and I walk out of the office to be met with the golden retriever boy.. uh I mean Isaac.

"I'm guessing you're Mr. Heenan?" Asher asked.

"Yep but only Jackie calls people by their last names." He smiles a bit and says: " I'm Isaac"

"Asher"

"Ah so I see you understand how to respond to people introducing themselves like a normal person." He looks at me.

"Damn okay I see how it is" I say amused.

"Uh.. Hi Isaac?" He says mocking me.

Asher seems to think the situation is funny and I won't lie it wasn't a bad impression.

"Alright thanks for the performance Isaac, I know Jackie said you'd be taking us to our class but I don't take Drama."

"What a shame you wont measure up to my acting genius"

" A real tragedy" Asher chips in.

"Shakespearean" I add. Speaking of which.. "Oh Shit! When does English start at?"

Isaac looks at the time on his phone and says: "In 3.. 2..1.." DINGGGGG!!!!

"Welp looks like were late" I say not particularly bothered. Its our first day who cares. We walk to the class taking our time and when we finally get there i'm met with rage filled eyes staring into my soul.

"Ah. The three of you. I'm glad you decided to show up."

"Aw thanks that's so sweet of you" I say pretending to be oblivious to her rage. Isaac and a few students look nervous like my arse is about to be handed to me.

"Grab a seat." She says her voice stone cold. "And next time don't be late"

"I mean thanks for the advice but I can assure you I will only bless you with my presence when the time is right"

"She glares at me but decides to drop it as some sort of sympathy act because it's my first day. I sort of respect her for dropping it so easily. Isaac joins some of his friends at the back of the class and the only two remaining seats were elsewhere so I took the last seat next to Asher.

As the teacher starts her lesson I start to think about the morning. I think about Isaac being so friendly and cheerful. I think about Jackie being super kind and fun. And I think about Asher. We kind of clicked. Something about being near him just felt... right. It's a weird feeling. As i'm deep in thought, I notice him staring at me. I look towards him and to my surprise he doesn't look away. We just look at each other. As awkward as it may have seemed it was actually just... comfortable?
