Nines sat at a table with Adrian... Officer Adrian. From the crime scene..? Gavin silently eavesdropped, glancing at them through the break room window. Adrian apparently said something quite funny, and Nines laughed. He had a nice laugh... Why couldn't he be the one to make him laugh like that..? No, no, what was he saying... Maybe he was still drunk from last night. Yes, that's the excuse he'd use for these thoughts.
◇
Nines and Gavin sat across from each other, working on the case. It had been about a week since they started, and so far barely any leads. This criminal must've been quite good...
It was getting darker outside, and so Nines quickly checked the time;
"5:11, Detective Reed, you can go home now, or stay here if you'd prefer to work on the case for longer." He quickly explained, looking up from his tablet.
"Mm I'm gonna stay, tin can. Coffee?" He responded quickly, intent green gaze not leaving his computer.◇
As Nines approached Gavin with the coffee he'd made, a notification popped up suddenly, surprising the Android. His arm tensed up and he spilt the coffee, some of the brown liquid landing on the ground, some landing on...
"Detective Reed! I'm so sorry, I believe we-"
"Damn it tin can, not have any steady hand software installed?" He barked; getting up and brushing off as much coffee as he could from his leather jacket before beginning to stalk towards the break room.
"Gavin, I'm truly sorry-"
"Told you not to call me that!" He angrily exclaimed, walking through the lunch room doorway, leaving the door to slam behind him.
Nines shook his head at himself, closing his eyes, LED changing from red to yellow then back again every few moments. Grabbing a wad of paper towel he began to clean off the scarred detectives desk before a notification popped up on Gavins computer. An anonymous tip.. The suspect was apparently at a sketchy warehouse. They should check it out... He knew he'd have to get Gavin on board, which would be difficult, but he may as well try. Detective Reed would understand, right? This was important for work...◇
"Detective Reed..? I'd like to apologize again. We've received an anonymous tip about our case, and-"
"If this is your way of trying to trick me into talking to you, it's not gonna work. Go away and go back to whatever androids do. Just make sure that whatever it is, it isn't in the break room with me." He interrupted.
"Surely you can't be so upset about some coffee, Gavin, This is very important, it could get us a lead for cracking our case."
"Its not just coffee. I've had a stupid tin can android forced into my work life, and I know you're trying to manipulate me with some fake apologies and emotion." He squeezed his eyes shut, blurring out a couple sentences.
"Detective i am a sentient person too. I wouldn't be such a jerk for the sake of it. If you have something against androids that's your problem, you shouldn't sacrifice a lead just to be angry at me, and for what, your prejudice?"
"Just... Just shut up! Go alone for all I care."
Nines' LED shone bright red, and he nodded, walking away with heavier steps than usual.
