Tadashi sipped on his tea, watching the empty seat across from him. He hated that the cafe didn't have tables dedicated to singular customers, he felt even more alone now than he had before. The laptop in front of him went dim, though he quickly swiped the pad to bring back its brightness. Right, he had to write the book. It became increasingly hard with each chapter, as if the last drained more from him, and like his plan was becoming more of a mess. He grumbled softly, tapping on the corner of his laptop. His brain felt empty as he downed the last of his tea, though he knew he had to write more if he was going to meet a deadline. He asked the waiter for another cup of tea, as well as a slice of their strawberry shortcake. It looked good in the display, and he was starting to get hungry. He typed in a few words, deleting them and then typing a few more. Everything that went down just sounded wrong. He scrunched his face up, confused and stuck.

"Are you alright? You look constipated." The remark had a laugh behind it, a tease perhaps.

Tadashi blushed a little, relaxing his face. He moved his laptop to the side, closing the lid halfway.

"I'm fine thank you, just struggling."

The tall boy placed his order on the table in front of him, peering at the laptop.

"Thank you," Tadashi said as the glass plate clinked on the table.

"No problem. If I can ask, what're you struggling with?"

Tadashi looked up at the boy, watching himself in the reflection of his glasses. He moved his focus to the eyes behind the glasses, golden, staring straight back at him. He moved his glance to the laptop, blushing again.

"I'm just trying to write something. Emphasis on the trying. I can't seem to get anything on the page. Maybe I need a break or talk to someone or something. I'm just not sure." He saw the boy's hands twiddle in his peripheral, maybe he had overspoken.

"Well that's no good. Give me like five or ten minutes."

Tadashi frowned, watching the boy walk away from the table. He disappeared out the back, so Tadashi took the chance to eat the cake he had ordered. It was sweet, but also tart. The cake was soft, and he scoffed the whole slice down quite quickly. It also made him feel a bit better, considering he wasn't so hungry now. He put the empty plate at the other corner of the table, reaching to take a sip from his tea. He didn't want to go back to his writing now, he wanted to know what the other boy wanted when he came back. He tapped his foot on the metal bar of the table, watching his laptop go to sleep. He was halfway through his cup when he saw the boy come back out, this time missing an apron and wearing a jacket. In all honesty, Tadashi thought he looked cute, which then made his ears go red. He quickly looked down at his cup to take a drink to make sure he wasn't staring.

He saw the shoes appear in his sight, followed by, "May I sit with you?"

Tadashi put his cup down, putting it on top of the cake plate and moving it all towards him to free the other half of the table.

"Yes of course, please."

He bit the inside of his cheek, did he really have to sound that desperate? The other chuckled, sitting himself down.

"My name is Tsukishima by the way. It's Yamaguchi right? Hope you like your green tea with two sugars."

Tadashi blushed, he felt like he'd never seen the other before yet exposed like he knew everything about him.

"The tea is good, thanks." He scratched the back of his head. "And so was the cake."

"Glad you like the cake. I didn't make it or anything, but it is my favourite."

Tadashi smiled, he was far calmer now than he had been a few moments ago. He reached out to close his laptop, removing it from the table all together.

"Thanks for coming to sit with me," he blushed again, realising how bizarre this situation was, "and for listening to me."

He received a chuckle as an answer, in which a silence pursued. Tadashi reached out to grab his tea again, trying to make himself think of something to say.

"I wanted to ask you."

Tadashi's eyes shot straight up to match up with Tsukishima's, after which he hummed softly. "Mm?"

The eyes cheeks started to go red, which made Tadashi subconsciously scrunch his eyebrows in confusion.

"Do you maybe wanna go grab lunch?"

Tadashi's she widened, this was the last thing he had expected from the other.

"It sounds stupid sorry. You just always come in and you've always peaked my interest as a person so I wanted to actually try talking to you, at least once..." There was a slight pause, before his cheeks went bright red. "I'm sorry if you don't swing that way, I just thought..."

"The pins on my laptop bag yeah? And the stickers?" Tadashi laughed a little, it couldn't hurt to try make friends with someone right? "It's okay, I do, and I'd love to go for lunch. I was just surprised is all."

Tsukishima coughed, trying to fix himself from his sudden panic, clearly feeling somewhat embarrassed but his response to it.

"Where shall we go?" Tadashi packed up his bag, finishing his tea.

"Let's go here."

Tadashi looked at Tsukishima's phone once it faced him.

"You sure do listen to what I say, huh?"
