"Remember to just smile," Jade reminded me as we tugged into the billionth hallway for the day. Matt was walking behind us, maybe listening into our conversation, maybe not; I wouldn't know because he's too quiet. When he'd asked about where I'd been all these days, Jude had swiftly lied to him that I'm from another place called Shoreshire, or something along that word. She'd told him about how my family was brutally killed by dragons and I'd lost my memory when I fell from a cliff. I was a mute from birth apparently.
Then she'd lied that I wondered into the forest near their Kingdom, where Oliver had found me and handed me over to the orphanage. The orphanage was one of the communities that was invited along for art camp; don't ask me, hence Jade and I's first meeting.
She's really good at lying.
"Oh, and here," she handing me a chained pendant, a genuine smile etched on her face. "You'll need this to be perfect in that dress." I put them on, silently thanking her since I couldn't talk. "And make sure to great the King before sitting down, yeah? But don't worry, I'll be there with you the whole way!" Jade pushed me forward making me stumble. I toned the feeling of glaring at her and calmed myself before stepping towards the wide open double doors.
From outside, I could see that they led into a humongous dining hall that was currently filled with people. A few of them were walking around, serving while most of the well dressed men and women sat on comfortable chairs that screamed royalty. Among them, I noticed a specific someone who's definitely getting killed by me later in the future.
"She lived in a kingdom herself Jade, I'd think she'd know what to do in a dining hall," Matt comment from behind. They seemed really close, I'd need to ask Jade later on.
Oh wait I can't; I'm mute.
"She'd only know that if she was part of the royalty Matt, think before you speak!" Jade turned around to give the guy a glare. She turned back to me before smiling sweetly.
How does she do that? And she's related to the gloomy Oliver?
"Don't worry Amelia, Matt didn't mean that, he just doesn't think before speaking."
Then, she rushed me into the room while looking perfect and graceful. I, on the other hand, stumbled around and looking clumsy as one can be. When I entered the gathering, almost everyone stopped to look at me. I shrugged mentally, they're obviously surprised of my presence. I took a step forward like Jade had instructed me, only to hear a frightening screech and get blocked by two spears, crossed, in front of my gorgeous face.
Suddenly, I was pulled back by Matt while Jade yelled at the warriors to unblock my way. "She's my friend and she's staying here for as long as I say! Now emend yourselves before I chuck you out of the palace for good!"
Does she always speak with an explanation mark in her conversations?
"Jade, darling, what's the meaning of this?"
