Levi watched as Sam took the stage with some guy. She looked amazing tonight. Like she was looking for a roll in the sheets and the guy's hand on the small of her back made him a little jealous. Okay, maybe a lot.

"That's Jacob. He always puts in a duet with Sam."

"He does? Does she not get to choose herself?"

Kyle shook his head. "She doesn't choose any of her songs. Everyone here does. I bet her name is in that jar at least twenty times and not one is written in her handwriting." He nodded to where the jar was. The music started and then she was singing. The song was about being a fighter or something. The lyrics telling everyone that she was the champion. She walked the stage, singing with so much emotion that it was hard not to feel it. Jacob walked back and forth with her, dancing. At one point she reached out and he spun her as she sang and then he started singing.

Or he guessed maybe talking, rapping? Levi had to admit that they looked good on stage together. Dancing and singing. Which only made the green monster surface more. They finished the song and the crowd went wild for her again. The same way they did when her name had been called. He smiled. She really was a star.

The man got back up on the stage with the jar. He pulled a piece of paper out again. "Sam, come back up here." He laughed. She stopped halfway back to the bar. "You're singing 'I hope' by Gabby Barrett." Everyone screamed and she went back up onto the stage. She stood in front of the mic and waited for the music.

The song came on and she was singing about hoping some guy fell in love with a girl and that she made him feel amazing. Then she sang the same lyrics she'd sung to him the first time he saw her. He realized it was the song he had heard her singing in her truck. The next lyrics talked about how the singer hoped he got a picture of her with another guy. He could see on Sam's face that she meant every word.

The hurt was in her eyes and then anger when she started the chorus again. She took the mic off of the stand and started walking the stage. Levi looked around at everyone as they watched her and some girls sang with her. He noticed a guy sitting in a chair smiling at her. Drinking whiskey. He didn't look like he belonged there. He was in slacks and a dress shirt. His top buttons undone like he'd taken a tie off and came here right after work. A business guy.

He was giving Sam a sly smirk and Levi didn't like the way he was looking at her. Sam finished her song and as she was leaving the stage she told the guy running the show to skip her if her name is pulled next. She went back to the bar and sat with her friends. They laughed and downed a shot. The business guy kept watching her and then he got up and went over to her.

Levi smiled to himself as he thought about the guy kicking his ass handed to him by Sam. Corporate guys always thought they could have whatever they wanted. Hell, Levi had grown up in it with his family. At one point he was that guy. The guy put his hands on her shoulders and leaned against her, whispering something in her ear. Vee and the other girl looked up with shocked looks at the guy.

Sam jumped up and went to leave but the guy grabbed her arm, yanking her back to him. She stumbled and fell into his chest. He grabbed her hip and said something to her. Instantly Levi was on his feet, along with other guys around the bar that had seen what was going on. The guy had picked the wrong girl, in the wrong bar to fuck with.

Sam was frozen in place. Just staring at the guy. In moments they were surrounded by men.

"You should let go of the lady." One of them said.

"You're gonna catch some fists if you don't let go and step back." Someone else said while a few of them cracked their knuckles. The guy looked up at all of the men staring him down. Levi was sure there were other guys there wishing he would try something, just like he was. He wouldn't mind knocking the guy around a few times just for touching her.

Levi stepped forward and put an arm between the guy and Sam. It was like it broke her from whatever shock she was in.

"Levi." She sounded relieved and turned, wrapped her arms around his waist. He walked backwards, keeping eye contact with the man. When they were out of the circle of guys he turned her to the table he'd been sitting at.

"Do you want to stay or go home?" He asked her.

"I don't want to leave, besides it looks like Ryan is being thrown out." She laughed. He pulled a chair out for her and her friends came to join them. So that was Ryan.

"What just happened, Sam? Why didn't you kick his ass like all of the other guys?" Leave it to Kyle to open his big mouth.

Sam kind of folded in on herself, wrapping her arms around her waist. "I don't know what happened. It was like I forgot everything." Vee started rubbing her back. She sat up straighter. "No, I'm not going to let him ruin my night." Turning, she locked eyes with Vee. "You said you were going to get me laid?" She challenged with a smirk.

"Yes!" Vee pumped her fist in the air. "It's about time!" She started looking around at the guys in the bar with Sam but Vee shot a look over to Levi. She'd caught him looking at her in the diner. This wasn't what he had in mind. He wanted to spend more time with her, not just fuck her. He looked at the guys and Kyle had a smile on his face, like he was excited. Levi ground his teeth together. No way was he going to let this happen. Even though it was none of his business.

"Are you sure that's a good idea? I mean, look at what just happened." He said, earning him a look from everyone at the table. Kyle and Vee glared at him while Sam looked at him in shock. He held up his hands. "I'm just being honest. Is a one night stand really what you want?" She stared at him thoughtful for a moment.

Then she grinned. "Yes." Sam grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him down for a kiss. He gasped at the spark that hit his lips at her touch and she used it to slip her tongue into his mouth. He groaned and drove his fingers into her thick curls, pulling her closer. Before he knew it she was straddling him in the chair, biting his lower lip. Sam knew what she wanted and she was going for it. Dammit, she was so fucking hot.

"Sam." He groaned out then pulled away as he became aware of the people at the table. They were staring at them. Mouths open in shock. He cleared his throat and she looked around. It seemed like the whole bar was watching them. She laughed and got up, taking his hand.

"Come on. Let's go." She said, pulling him to his feet. The girls cheered and not just her friends but a few others in the bar. Some of the guys clapped him on the shoulder as he walked by. He started to feel weird. Like he was winning something that he didn't even know he was in the running for.

Sam pulled him out the door and to his truck. "Vee drove me, so you'll have to take me home." She said, opening his passenger door. He got into the driver's seat.

"Are you sure about this?" He said before he put the key in.

"Stop questioning it, Levi. If I wasn't sure I wouldn't have left with you. Besides, you said that you wished, last night." She raised a brow at him. "This is your only chance. Take it or I go find someone else." Levi looked at her for a minute. He did want her but did he want her like this? He wasn't looking for anything permanent, not with the curse hanging over his family and she obviously wasn't either. She just wanted one night. Levi started the truck and started to pull out. He could give her one night. One night she'll never forget.
