CHAPTER 21
I just wanted to have a peaceful evening but I guess that isn't possible when you're a demigod like myself. Our evening at our little makeshift camp started off normal enough, but then Percy and Annabeth decided to disappear into the woods without even telling us! Then Will disappeared into the woods saying he had to go to the bathroom.
It had been almost ten minutes and no one was back yet. Will wasn't going number two in the woods... right? And what were Percy and Annabeth doing? Honestly, the most I could assume was just kissing.
I was beginning to get a bit sick of being alone, so decided I'd track down my friends like a regular human being. I used my super cool powers to sense their presence and... okay, I'm lying. Sorry, but remember what Will said? I have a dark side and that includes lying sometimes! I know, pretty bad. But I actually just followed their foot prints.
The footprints soon to came to a stop in front of a large bush, and when I heard quiet voices talking, I realized that either 1. The bushes were alive and having conversations or 2. My friends were behind the bushes.
It was 2.
I peaked through the bush to see Annabeth and Percy (both silently crying might I add) hugging. After a couple more seconds, they let go. Annabeth took a deep breath, taking a step away from Percy.
"I'm going to head back to our camp," Annabeth said.
"Okay, I'll be right there. Just... give me a moment to think," Percy said, both his voice and body shaky.
She smiled softly, nodded, then began to walk right towards me. Oh gods no! Percy and Annabeth couldn't find out I was spying on them! What kind of friend would I seem like then? I ducked down behind some other bushes, watching as Annabeth passed me. For some reason though, Percy stayed. I stayed too because... actually, I don't know why. Just because.
After a minute or two, I heard a twig snap and Percy sighed, turning around. "How long have you been here?" Percy asked.
I looked where Percy was looking and saw... Will? So he wasn't going to the bathroom? I'm not that surprised, actually. It's it natural to be going to the bathroom for as long as I thought he was...
He was standing behind Percy, a solemn expression on his face. Will sighed. "The entire time," He admit.
"So you were spying?" Percy raised his eyebrow.
"You've never spied on anyone before, Perce?" Will said doubtfully.
"Touché," Percy said. "Um, what are you still doing out here."
"Doing the same thing you are," Will said, "Thinking."
"About what?" Percy asked.
"Well, after hearing you and Annabeth talking about it not feeling right being together, I was thinking about... you," Will said quietly.
"Me?"
"Yeah, you," Will nodded.
"And what about me exactly?" Percy said, his voice just above a whisper.
Will's face suddenly turned red. "I don't really want to say. Especially to you of all people," Will said, shoving his hands in his pockets and looking down.
"It's fine, man. We're friends, you have nothing to worry about," Percy assured him.
"Yeah," Will said, his eyes wide, "Friends..."
"So what's on your mind?" Percy asked.
"I've just been thinking about my feelings," Will said.
"Yeah, me t-"
"My feelings towards you, Percy."
"Oh."
"Percy, I think... I think I have feelings for you. And I know I really shouldn't be saying this, especially since you just technically broke up with your girlfriend, but ever since Hazel got me to kiss you, I've been thinking about you totally differently. I've finally gotten over Nico," Will suddenly blurted.
Oh my gods! Was what I think was happening actually happening?!
"Wow," Percy said, his eyes wide, "I can't believe you actually feel that way."
"And you?" Will asked, leaning forward. "Um, how do you feel about me?"
"I don't really know," Percy said, looking away from Will, and causing the blonde haired boy to deflate like a balloon. "I mean, I just got out of a relationship, and you're super cute which makes me really question my sexuality which I still need to figure out. And - well, me not knowing my true sexuality should be answer enough! I don't know if I'm bi or straight or pan or what and it's kind of scaring me."
"Well that's obviously what's most important," Will said.
Percy smiled. "Thanks, Will," Percy said.
"Of course, Percy," Will said, "And, uh, get back to me once you figure everything out. And you know what, Percy?"
"What?"
"You don't need a label. You don't have to be bi or pan or straight or anything. You can be whatever you want to be. Just... remember that, okay?" Will said softly.
Percy grinned. "I... like the sound of that. Thanks again, Will," Percy said.
"Anything for you, Perce," Will said.
"Should we head back to the camp?" Percy said. Will just nodded.
The two began to walk back towards camp, but not before Percy grabbed onto Will's wrist, pulling Will into him and pressing his lips into Will's. Holy schist, they were kissing! Percy and Will were actually kissing! And I wasn't forcing them to!
I could believe it. And yet... I could. Things were really starting to look our way, especially Will and Percy's way if you know what I mean. Wink wink.
