CHAPTER 23

Can I just say wow? I mean wow. Percy kissed me! He actually kissed me! I mean, I was pretty uncertain about my feelings towards him before, but now I was certain that I liked - maybe even loved - Percy.

After our little magical kiss, we began walked back in awkward silence. "So... what now?" I said.

Percy shrugged. "As awesome as that kiss was, I still don't think I'm quite ready to be in a relationship. But I know I definitely like you, Will," Percy smiled.

"I like you too. Of course you already know that though," I chuckled. Percy just nodded and smiled.

A few minutes later, we had reached our small little camp. Annabeth sat by the fire looking tense. Had she caught us kissing? I couldn't help but blurting, "I'm sorry!"

Annabeth looked at me and blinked. "Uh, sorry for what?"

Percy elbowed me and I laughed nervously. "Heh, nothing. Uh, what's wrong?" I said.

Annabeth sighed, looking into the fire. "Oliver just Iris messaged me. He said that tomorrow at noon to meet him up on Half-Blood Hill for a final battle. He said if we win, he'll leave Camp and never show his face again-"

"Well that's great!" Percy said.

Annabeth sighed. "And if he wins, we have to become his hypnotized slaves forever. And I may or may not have sworn on the River Styx that we'd show up, so we can't really back out now. But he swore too!"

"Well okay then," I muttered.

"I guess we're doing this then," Percy sighed, "Um, where's Hazel!"

We suddenly heard a bunch of twigs snapping and heavy breaking, and Hazel came bursts out of the bushes, her hair a mess full of leaves and broken twigs. "Right... here..." She panted, hunched over and raising her hand. "So what did I miss?"

We quickly told her what Annabeth had told us, causing her to frown. "I see," She said.

"Um, what were you doing out there?" Percy asked, gesturing into the woods.

"Oh, um... stuff," Hazel said.

"Okay then," I said clearing my throat. Though I swear she kept looking at Percy and I with a mischievous look in her eyes. She didn't know anything... right?

"We should eat, then get some rest," Annabeth said, "We have a battle to face tomorrow."

We all nodded, beginning to eat the fruit and cheese slices. Not very filling and pretty basic, but I didn't have much to work with.

-

It was the next day and I was a nervous wreck. We were all gearing up, grabbing our weapons and discussing our plan. Today would be the big battle. Today would be the day that truly decides if we win or loose. It was a pretty big deal.

"Let's eat breakfast, then do some training," Annabeth said. We all nodded in agreement.

We hadn't said much that morning, just the standard, "Good morning," and I said, "Pass the grapes," once. There wasn't much to say. We were all just very, well, tense. Can you blame us?

"You know, we don't even have a real way of keeping track of time," Percy stated as we trained.

"We can tell by looking at the sun," Annabeth said. She looked up at the sky, squinted, and said, "It's around 10 A.M."

Seeing our baffled looks made Annabeth laugh. "What?" She shrugged. "I learned a thing or two from the Hunters. Since we don't really know what time it is specifically, we should just head down so we're not late. Then Oliver will have even less chill."

"Okay, everyone have their weapon?" I said. Though I'm not really that violent of a guy. I guess I'm just... protecting myself. It's the most I can do in this crazy world.

We began walking back to Camp Half-Blood, all of us nervous and fidgety. Stupid ADHD.

We soon burst out of the woods and onto the road, where we began to jog. In a matter of minutes, we reached Half-Blood Hill. Holy Hades, things were about to get real. Oliver was waiting at the top with a smile on his face. He didn't even a wield a weapon! Was the guy really this cocky?

"Hello, everyone," He gave us a toothy white smile.

"Oliver," We grumbled. He just smiled wider. Jeez, could the guy get a hint?

"Okay, let's skip the small talk," Annabeth said quickly, "Explain how we win."

Oliver just smiled. "I said I'd leave and never show my face again, but that's not really true-"

Annabeth exploded at that. "You swore on the River Styx, you lying bastard!"

"No, no, don't worry," Oliver chuckled, "You see, I won't have to run away, because if you win, I'll be dead!"

"What?" Hazel blinked.

"To sum it up, whoever kills someone on the other team first wins," Oliver said way too bluntly.

Oh no.
