Chapter 2

Zeynep carefully looked at the outline of a body which was made with a thick marker on the floor to indicate the exact place where the victim was found. The outline was a bit too straight, as if someone was lying down on the floor instead of falling by force. It wasn't something you would call a sudden fall. Noting that she took a picture of that figure for future reference if needed.Everything around her was constantly trying to say this was all well planned but a good police officer can't rely on their assumptions only. To agree with her thoughts she had to work more and she was all set to do whatever it takes to solve this case. She had to find something, anything, even a tiniest bit could be really important for her case, there has to be something missing, something hidden in this picture which they need to find.
"Did anyone look in the balcony?" She asked
"Yes we did but haven't found anything" her team member Sakib answered.
Nodding at him she resumed her work. Oh Allah what is happening in this world? Help us finding something which can help us, we need to give this woman and her family justice and indeed without your help we will never be able to do that. She sent a quick prayer above as she headed towards the balcony to make a quick search operation again.
The balcony was round shaped with very classy looking glass railings, it had tiny plant pots filled with roses and daisies all around. There were two chairs kept in the middle with a patio table giving the already small area a very homey and cozy look. Everything seemed untouched, all good until something caught her attention. There was mud on one corner, she bent down looking closely and found very tiny almost invisible to naked eye pieces of broken pot. It seemed as if someone cleared the place up after accidentally breaking the pot? She readjusted her search gloves as she moved the other plants away. Oh what mess it was behind the clean area.
There it is, a broken pot was hidden behind other ones. Was this also related to the incident? She thought. Moving the mud from her hands she found something shining through it as the rising sun hit the object which seemed like a metal.
Oh Allah! A ring. It was a silver band with quite a bit of chunky black onyx stone in the center. She picked it up carefully and dropped it in a zipper bag.
-"Is the search complete?" The Major asked
"Yes sir, we found nothing suspicious here" Officer Sakib said
"Wait. There was a broken pot in the balcony and a ring too." Zeynep came out while announcing which seemed more like dangling her new found discovery in the air.
"Are the arrangements done for the interrogation? I haven't seen anyone from her family yet, where are they?" Handing over the bag to Officer Rameez she asked.
"Her sister lives in Islamabad with her family, the parents went with the ambulance as soon as the body was sent for the postmortem and her husband is in Lahore for a business trip."
"Did anyone contact her husband? We need him here." She announced.
Before they could discuss more about the husband they heard a commotion going on from outside of the apartment.
