Chapter 3
-“See, I thought everything was going okay and he was just nervous or disturbed due to the event but… His last words proved that there is something definitely wrong with him. He said he took the next available flight from Lahore, right?” She asked in the end.
“Yes he did.” Officer Sakib nodded while Omer’s expressions told her he’s on the right path.
“After yesterday evening there was no flight of Lahore to Karachi till 3pm, I booked Baba’s ticket myself for today, he’s in Lahore too, remember? How is it possible for Talha Yilmaz to come back from a city which had no flights and car travel distance is more than half a day? What super power made him be here in 8 hours?”
The room fell into a deep silence, the latest revelation stunned each and every person there. They all were pondering over the same questions, what made the man lie? What was the reason behind it?
While others were busy trying to figure out the answers Zeynep was planning the next move, nothing will help her by thinking over this. She knew she had to take an action, do something, anything to find the key of this Pandora’s Box they just found.
“Keep an eye on that man, make sure he doesn’t go out of the city. Fix a meeting with Ayra’s parents and her colleague as soon as possible, we need to wor-” her phone’s ringing interrupted her speech, oh what a perfect timing she sighed. “I need to pick this call, just do this and let me know.” She quickly said left.
-
“Yes, yes Zeynep speaking. Yes please go on, oh… Are you sure? Okay. I will be visiting again tomorrow for more details, let you management know. Thank you for the help.” She heaved a sigh as the call got disconnected.
The security guard’s call didn’t go as she expected. There were no visitors yesterday in the apartment’s record list. How is that possible? If the victim was alone how did she land into such situation? Something is missing here. She headed back to her colleagues with mind filled with various thoughts.
“We just found a dead end!” Rubbing her forehead in worry she walked into the room and slumped on the chair beside Omer’s desk.
Raising his eyebrows Omer gave her a questioning look, encouraging her to speak.
“There were no visitors at her place yesterday, the guard just told me. She was alone at the time of the death as per the security. The call wasn’t very helpful for our case you know.” Shrugging her shoulders she answered.
“We need to look into the matter closely, I’ve already asked for the call records.” Going through the case file he said.
“Oh good, where did everyone go?” She asked looking around the empty area.
“Sakib has gone to bring the forensic report of the ring you found and Rameez went to arrange a meeting with the colleague.” He replied.
“I wonder what the autopsy report is going to bring for us tomorrow.” Giving him an approving look she peeked over the file he had in his hand.
“Hopefully something which is going to help us?” The mere statement sounded more like a question but at least a hopeful one.
