Ignoring The Voices

Scorpius had ignored the voices screaming in his head as he and Albus started walking back down to the Great Hall to see where they would be pitching the tent. Rose and Albus, who were both raised in more of a muggle way(Albus more than Rose), both knew how to pitch a tent.

Scorpius, on the other hand, had no clue what he was doing. He somehow ended up making it upside down, leaving Albus is a fit of laughter on the ground. Rose ended up helping Scorpius, slightly blushing every time their hands brushed. She was starting to like the boy, not knowing that he was and had been over her for a while.

"Do ya think there's the enlargement charm on the inside?" Albus asked, looking at the tent, which was a light blue color.

"No, there wouldn't be because Mcgonagall said that there would be no magic for this trip, and it would be the muggle way, not the magical way. Meaning.... This is a normal tent." Rose flashed a smile, not noticing Albus scowl. He hated how Rose was a know it all that had to get into other business.... He really didn't think this whole thing through. His know it all cousin and best friend would be cuddling and look all cute all night when Albus would be on the other side of the tent, freezing.

"Shit-" Albus muttered, cursing himself mentally. 'I didn't finish packing. ' he thought, running a hand through his hair, and turning back to look at the school. Maybe he still had time? He glanced around quickly, planning to make a run for the school, but when he looked back, he saw McGonagall blocking his path. The headmistress placed her wand to her throat and started speaking.

"- Hello students, hello... Hello..." once everyone had settled down, she went on. "The castle will be off-limits for the rest of the day. The house-elves will bring you food for dinner, and breakfast the next morning. You will all be trusted to be out here alone, do not let me and the other staff members regret this. " she went on, talking about what you should and shouldn't do, but Albus tuned her out. He really was going to freeze, not only would he be alone, but he had barely packed anything to keep him warm.

Brillant. Just brilliant.

---

The sun had set, and the night air blew gently.

Albus hugged his jacket tighter around him. He was sitting outside of the tent, not wanting to enter it because he knew that Rose and Scorpius were eating each other's faces. He knew he wouldn't be able to handle seeing that. It'd break his heart.

After a while, he realized he couldn't stay outside forever. The tent would at least block out a bit of the cold, though it wouldn't be that much.

He slowly went into the tent, closing his eyes just in case they were snogging but found the two glaring at each other instead.

"Al, why didn't you pack anything other than a thin blanket?" Rose demanded, pointing at Albus' bag, which lay open- just how he had left it.

Albus stumbled over his words. "I- I didn't h- have time"

Rose rolled her eyes and went to her corner of the tent. "Gods you are stupid," she said, wrapping herself in the blankets she brought. (really, she had only brought one, but Scorpius, being nice, gave her one of the extras he brought. )

Albus scowled and grabbed the thin blanket he brought, curling up in the corner diagonal from Rose. He tried his best to act like he wasn't freezing- thought it wasn't working too well.

"So you aren't going to help your cousin?" Scorpius asked, looking over at Rose.

"No! He's the one that didn't pack, that's not my fault!" rose glared at Scorpius. "Oh, don't tell me you are going to HELP him!"

"He's my best friend," Scorpius said, turning away from Rose.

"Fine, ill go in a tent with my friends then," she said, sticking up her nose. She knew that she should have helped her cousin, though she was too stubborn to say it.

Once Rose had left, Scorpius looked over at Albus.

"I'm fine, really," he said, forcing a smile.

Scorpius shook his head and threw a blanket over him. The only one he had left.

"I'm not letting you be cold either," Albus said, looking at his friend. "The blanket is large enough for us both"

Scorpius slightly smiled, sliding under the blanket and laying down next to Albus.

It wasn't as awkward as it should have been, surprisingly. Albus found himself staring into Scorpius' eyes, noticing all the little details in them. It was calming, so calming in fact that Albus didn't think right. He leaned closer to Scorpius, breathing in his sent. He could hear Scorpius mutter something that sounded like 'bodyheat,' but frankly, he did care.

He felt safe.

The two fell asleep in each other's arms.
