Cas awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of his daughter calling for him.
"Daddy!" She whispered, tugging on the sheets.
Cas groaned and rolled over so he could see her. "What is it, sweetie?"
"I... I had a bad dream. Can I... can I sleep with you?" She asked bashfully.
He smiled. "Sure. Come here." He invited her next to him on the bed, where she got snuggled up under the blanket with her stuffed rabbit toy.
"Good night, daddy." She whispered.
"Good night, angel." Cas kissed her on the head, rolling back over to sleep.
Eva decided to ask him something that had been bugging her for a while. "Daddy?"
"Yes?"
"Why don't I have a mommy?"
He immediately paled. He knew this day would come when his little Eva would ask about her absent "mother". He wasn't sure if "mother" was even the right word.
He turned back over. "What-what do you mean?"
"Well, everybody's got a mommy. Or at least on TV. So why don't I have one? Where is she?" She asked.
Cas sighed. "I always knew this day would come. When you asked about your mother. And believe me when I tell you, it's difficult to explain."
Eva sat up and looked him dead in the eyes. "Daddy. Tell me about mommy."
Cas sighed, unsure what to do. The only way he could explain her origins is if he told her about what she was. A Nephalem. He couldn't do that to her yet, he wanted her to live as normal of a life as possible. If he told her about Dean... he could forget about normality.
"Well... Eva. Your... mother's name was... Deanna. And... she was Sam's... sister, as you know already. After you were born, she left. And she never came back. But I pray for it every night. Even though I'm pretty sure no one's listening."
"Do you dream about her?"
Cas looked down at her curiously. "Pardon?"
"Do you see mommy in your dreams?"
"I... I don't dream."
"Why not?"
"I'm not sure. I just... never have."
Eva suddenly folded her hands together, closed her eyes, and lowered her head. She kept doing this for a few minutes before looking back up at her father with a smile. "Good night." And she laid back down on the bed.
"What was that?"
She looked up at him. "I was praying, daddy. I asked God to give you good dreams. Maybe he'll listen." She pecked his cheek and went to sleep.
Cas was rather stunned by what she said. She was praying for him. Praying. If only she knew that God wasn't listening. Or maybe he was and he just didn't bother to care.
He laid down so his back was facing Eva and tried to sleep. He soon found that he couldn't. He was suddenly thinking about Dean. How much he missed him, whether he was a demon or not. He wanted his abomination back, no matter what.
He rolled over and held Eva close to him. He kissed the top of her head and whispered, "Sweet dreams, my angel."

"Come on, dad! We've been doing this all night!" The boy complained.
"I don't care. We'll keep going all night if that's what it takes. Try. Again." His father growled.
The boy groaned but did as he said. He looked at the demon that was tied to a chair before him in the dark, cold warehouse. He held his hand up, clenching his fist, watching as the demon barely fidgeted.
The demon chuckled coldly. "That tickles."
The boy lowered his hand in frustration. "Dad, it's never going to work! Why do I need to exorcise demons, anyway?"
"Because, your powers... are only getting stronger. It won't be long before you can smite an angel with just a snap of your fingers. We need to make sure you're ready for that day. Now. Try again, Xzavier."
Xzavier sighed and looked back at the demon. He held his hand up and clenched his fist once again. It seemed to do more to the demon this time. It squirmed and writhed in pain, until smoke began to pour from its mouth.
"That's it," His father grinned. "Keep going."
Xzavier gather all his strength and soon forced the demon out. And all that was left was the meatsuit.
Xzavier smiled, hoping that he pleased his unimpressionable father. He looked up at him. "Was that good, dad?"
His father looked down at him. "It was adequate."
The smile soon faded from his lips and he looked back at the meatsuit. He didn't look all that alive. "Is he dead? Did I kill him?" He asked.
"You better hope so."
He looked up at his father again. "What do you mean?"
His father, Dean, looked down at him. "Because if he's still alive, you're gonna have to tear him to shreds anyway."
Xzavier frowned at the thought. He didn't want to kill humans. "Dad... I... I don't want to do that."
"And why the hell not?"
"He's human. Why do I have to kill a human?"
"Oh, god," Dean sneered. "Don't tell me you like the humans?"
"Is it so bad that the humans... fascinate me? I just... I don't think violence is the proper approach here. Maybe I like the humans, so what?"
"So what?" Dean knelt down beside his son, his black eyes boring into his son's blue ones. "The humans are nothing but meatsuits. Got that? That's all they are. Meat for our bones. We take over their bodies so we can get around."
"So... that body isn't yours?"
"Oh, this one's mine alright. When I became a demon, I was prepackaged. All me, son. And your body is all yours, too. Half demon, half angel. Got some advantages to it, boy. Your own body, your own powers. Nobody else in the world like you, Xzavier. Not a one."
"I know, I know. I'm the only one of my kind. You've told me that a hundred times."
"Now, tell me, what are the humans?"
Xzavier sighed. "Meatsuits."
"Attaboy."
They heard a groan from the meatsuit. He had awoken.
"Where am I?" He asked worriedly. "Where's my wife? Where's my boy?"
"Dad," Xzavier looked at his father. "He has a family. Like us, only human. Can't we just let him go?"
"Like us? No, no, we are no family. Now you get your ass over there and get this done, or I'm feeding you to the hellhounds. Got it?"
Xzavier knew he had no choice. Reluctantly, he went to make the meatsuit choke on his own blood, his screams filling the whole room, as Dean watched his son grow closer to fulfilling his destiny.
