I decided to not take all three of Dan's Bakugan.
Reason?
Well he will become a pretty big deal in the story, I don't want to become the antagonist of the protagonist or completely derail the story off its course.

Surprisingly enough Dan invited me to his Online chat group, I honestly never thought things would go like this.

I guess that I already changed the story quite a bit by simply existing.

Anyway, I still have a chess club to attend ,so I bid him farewell as I left for the 'special chess meeting'.

Damn it already sounds exciting, it's like' fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbow's' levels of exciting.

*in the meeting*

Our president jane was the first to speak: "As most of you probaply know our chess club hasn't had much activity. We join tournaments but never really win it or anything even close to that. Since we aren't able to show good results the school has cut our funding."

"Our funding!" Every one of us exclaimed, "what about our snacks?" Joshua asked
"You will simply have to buy snacks with your own money."

"And our training camp trips?" Marco followed up.

Jane simply shook her head. To be fair our training camp trips were actually just trips to the theme park.

We bribe--- convinced a teacher to turn a blind eye and in return we took his kids with us on our trips.

We also occasionally baby sit his kids if needed.

What did these things have to do with playing chess? It has been like only a month and the school already decided to cut the funds, but when I looked at the track record of the chess club of our school I can't help but feel immense disappointment...

The club came last the last four years in a row. Which in turn caused a lot of kids to pass over on the chess club for more popular activities.

I wondered what Jacky was doing, but when I looked at her direction she simply had her face down clearly looking displeased? I guess she was more excited about the trips than I thought.

I never expected that with her reserved and anti-social nature.

"Welp it seems our short run of embezzlement has ended." I stood up from my seat ready to leave.

"Hey Collin hold on for a sec. You are smart right? Surely you have an idea that could help us out of this predicament." Joshua looked at me with (hungry) eyes.

"Yeah I do have an Idea."

"I knew it!"
"Huzaah."
"Knew we could count on you!"
"..."

"Just win tournaments." Having shared my amazing piece of wisdom with my hopeless club members. I left them dumbstruck in the room.

---

"Not going to do anything about it? The club might be terminated if nothing gets done." Exedra said once we were alone.

"That is their problem. Not that of mine."

If they were ever serious about the club they wouldn't have wasted their time on embezzlement and actually tried playing the game.

I rode my skateboard to the public park. Looking around I noticed quite a lot of kids still going around looking for Bakugans.

Since the event was still pretty recent a lot of kids were still hoping to get lucky and find some cards that no one else had noticed.

I bit further ahead at the fountain were a bunch of kids gathered together playing Bakugan and showing each other their small collection.

"Huh? Is that the basketball president?"

I was surprised seeing the basketball president Seth amongst the group of kids.

Normally he just practiced basketball in the gymnasium. I wouldn't consider us close by any means but we were close enough for me to know that he would not be interested in any game besides basketball.

Curious on why he was here I approached to take a closer look.

As I approached I saw the glow of familair lights.

I sped up as hard as I could and took out my own card as well.

If I remembered correctly. People could spectate the battle or join the battle by opening the gate card.

Otherwise they would just be stuck in the real world and the game would end in a flash without knowing how the match went.

Especially since the Bakuwatch isn't out yet so you couldn't check out the replays.

"Gate card open!"
A myriad of lights flashed about as the world around started to warp and slow down.
--------

"Phew made it just in time." I wiped the perspiration off my brows as I watched the battle unfold.

The president was facing a familair face, Shuji.

Shuji had a hobby of bullying people weaker than him but turned into the biggest wuss when someone was stronger than him.

From the captains enraged expression I guess Shuji somehow triggered him or something.

Besides the two brawlers there were a couple of spectators off to the side watching the brawl unfold.

I gingerly walked up to them.

"Hey guys. What is going on here? Why is the president playing Bakugan against Shuji?"

"Oh hey Collin." One of the kids replied while the rest kept their focus on the game.

"Shuji beated one of the kids and took all his Bakugans." He looked sideways to the small scrawny kid next to him. The kid's eyes were a bit red. He was probaply distraught having his Bakugans taken away from him soon after he acquired them.

"One thing let to another and all of his tried battling him to win the Bakugans back but we kept losing while Shuji's collection got bigger." He scratched his cheek with embarrasment. "Eventually Sett noticed the commotion and challenged Shuji."

"Shuji actually agreed to give back all the Bakugans after Seth wins?"

"No." He shook his head. "Seth put up a bet with money. If Seth loses he gives all the Bakugans he had on him, which were four, and he would give him all of the pocket money he had saved up."

"He actually bet money?"

"Yeah. He bet 50 bucks!"

50 bucks might not sound like a lot but for us kids it was a substantial amount of cash.

Suddenly I felt Exedra in my pocket opening up.

"Collin be careful, I have a bad feeling about this battle." Exedra warned with a grave tone.
