Rule changes

When I arrived at my doorstep. It was already 5 PM. I quickly put down my stuff and went online. The first thing that appeared on my screen when I booted my computer up was an invite to a chat group, so I of course immediately accepted it.

But I didn't join the call just yet. I sat down on my chair staring blankly at the screen.

I thought I was on top of the world. That I had everything at my fingertips. I could change the plot at will.

With each of my decisions I could derail the world and change it from it's planned course. But now there was someone else who could do the same.

It made me feel less. I wasn't as special as I thought.

I shook my head. "Forget it. As long as we stay out of each others way nothing will happen."

I wanted to forget the matter of Seth as soon as possible.

I was not going to let Seth's existence ruin my enjoyment in this world.

When I got into the chat group I could hear a heated discussion of tactics and Bakugans.
"Cards that boosts your Bakugans are way better than those command cards."
"Dan its seems you don't understand, even though you you can make your own Bakugan stronger, the enemy can also weaken your Bakugan with their own."
It seems Shuji and Dan were discussing different kinds of cards while the others were just listening at the side.

"Oh Collin! Hey everyone this is Collin. He is amazing in Bakugan and we even go to the same school. Collin this kid with glasses is marucho he is the smartest of the group."
"Nice to meet you Collin."
"The bubbly girl is Julie, the always naggin girl is Runo, the red haired one is Alice and the blackhaired ninja is my best friend Shun."

"Hell-..Wait! Did you just say ninja? Damn that so cool, can I learn ninja stuff if I like join your dojo or something? I totally would."

"Actually, I don't want to become a master ninja, but my grandfather was a famous ninja warrior in his time so he is training me. It doesn't seem like he is accepting students though."

"I see. Thats too bad." I have to make a mental note of his grandpa, becoming a ninja seems pretty cool.

Wait. If I become a ninja, wouldn't I be able to just steal Bakugans out of peoples pockets? No. I am just getting ninjas and thiefs confused.....but what if I become both?

Taking no notice of my internal struggle between becoming a legit Brawler or a ninja thief.

Marucho, Dan and Shun were discussing about the rules of Bakugan since not many people know them yet, every new discovery about the game would be almost immediately posted on the Bakugan forums, the internet is literally going crazy about Bakugans.

But since I already knew about the game, I just brought up an extra window and started doing my homework while listenig to them talk about the new discoveries and rules they found out.

I didn't learn anything new except for that the rules of Bakugan are a little different than I thought like, you can use more than one red/green/black card a game but you can still only use three abillity cards, so I can use 2 red cards and a black one or even 3 black ones. Which is nice to know.

People were also heatedly discussing the double downing rule.

People were saying how it was killing the game and really slowed stuff down. Kids were playing Bakugan to see monsters fight and doubling down gave you a way to avoid fighting.

So the netizens online decided to alter the rules a bit.

If two of your own Bakugans land on a card, the Bakugans will return to your deck and the gate-card will return to it's rightful owner. This however won't count as a win.

If all Bakugans are on the field and none of the players can send anymore more Bakugans or use any abillity cards that changes this situation the game will end in a tie.

Then again these were rules people decided on. You can't stop someone from doubling down and ending the game.

Since these rules aren't enforced.
You had to rely on your opponent not being a dick and ending the game by doubling down.

"The rules were just starting to shape up and people are already changing the rules?" Dan lamented.

"The game is new. It's normal for it to go through multiple iterations before becoming the final product." Marucho answered.

Shun soon followed "I have heard that the Baku watches that are coming out soon. It seems they are following the Bakugan forums closely to make sure the Baku watches will be a hit in the Bakugan community."

"Oh? So does that mean that they are going include doubling down?" Julie inquired while looking a bit lost.

"Well according to a poll on the forums a majority of the community is strongly against the double down rule since most find it to be a cheap tactic." Marucho explained as he shared the poll statistics to the group.

"So if what Shun said is correct. It means that when the Baku watches come out the double down rule wouldn't be recognized. Since they are aiming to please their target audience."

All this talk about rules, polls and statistics seemed to start to bore Dan.

"Well guys I am going to bed. See ya." Dan said as he logged off. Soon after his departure many others started to go off too, myself included.

"So when am I gonna get what you promised?" Exedra asked, "well to be honest" I answered while looking away from Exedra's gaze. "I can't grant you a Bakugan a day right now, since you know. You already absorbed 11 of my Bakugans. I think it's pretty safe to say that I don't own you anything for atleast 11 days."

"Ugghh. Despicable." Exedra groaned as he returned to his ballform. I am starting to get a little bit curious why did he come to earth? Was it even his own choice?

"Hey who are you searching for?" I decided to simply ask him. no need to beat around the bush right?

"The Bakugan who started this whole mess, though at the moment I still have no clue which Bakugan is responsible."

"Well. Did you see the fight of today? Could it maybe have been one of the Balugans that have fought today?"
I said trying to imply Leonidas.

"I am currently still weak human. I need more Bakugans to be truly active. I went into resting mode immediately after I informed you of the noxious air around that other human. So no I didn't see the fight."

I couldn't help but be slightly disappointed at Exedra's explanation.

But whatever maybe I would get some more answers after sacrificing some more Bakugans to him.

I laid down in my bed. For the first time since I reincarnated I felt anxious about the future... no. I felt anxious about the plot.

With that another uneventful day ended.
