It was the day of the finale for The X Factor. I was in school attempting to actually get what the teacher was saying. Attempting because all I was thinking about was the show later. My brain didn't seem to process the mixture of variables and numbers on the board. I was excited to see what One Direction has in store for us in this live show. They always seem to amaze me with their talent.
Harry was so close to not making it to the live shows, but thanks to Simon and Nicole, he was put into a group and they named themselves One Direction.
The group was made up of 5 boys, Harry, Zayn, Niall, Liam and Louis. Zayn was the shy, quiet type who had an amazing voice. Liam was the responsible, serious and mature one. Louis was the loud and funny one. Harry was the..well, you already know what Harry is like and last, but definitely not least was Niall. Niall was the cute Irish that would be so adorable and cute that you'd want to take him home. He was dating this girl named Ru, which was short for..something that I always forgot. Their relationship was so cute! Ru's personality seemed nice enough, hopefully, someday, Harry would introduce me to them and we'd all be best friends.
I felt a slight poke on my cheek and I came back into reality and faced Alex.
"What?" I whispered to him.
"Stop zoning out. Mr. Stevenson might ask you a question and you'd look stupid and dazed, not knowing the answer," he informed me.
"Sorry. I'm just really excited for later!" I squealed. Angela, Caitlin, Alex and I have all watched The X Factor together. Ever since that first night, we agreed to watch it together at my house.
"I know you're excited, but could you please focus right now? I wouldn't want you flunking Maths class," he said to me worriedly. That thought made me smile. He was worried about me. This is why I love Alex so much. He's such a sweetheart.
"Okay fine," I gave in. "But you better bring food later," I winked at him.
"I always do don't I?" he said, jokingly.
A strong voice cut our conversation short. "Ms. Harrison, Mr. Reid. Is there a problem there?" Mr. Stevenson eyed us for a mere 3 seconds.
"No, Mr. Stevenson," we muttered under our breaths. We'd be surprised if he actually heard us.
"Good. Now Ms. Harrison, what is the answer to -9y+(6x-15+4y+5-8z)?" Mr. Stevenson asked me, testing if I actually listened or not.
"Well...ummm.." I tried stalling a bit, so that time could be wasted and I wouldn't have to answer.
Beside me, Alex started coughing and secretly put the answer in between his coughs. He was helping me getting out of this mess. I'd have to thank him later.
I smiled up at Mr. Stevenson. "The answer is -10-8z+6x-5y, Mr. Stevenson," I said, proudly.
"Very well Ms. Harrison," he said, bitterly. "Okay, class is over. You may all go and don't forget to do your homework on page 126 of your Math books," he added as most students shuffled out.
Alex and I were one of the last ones to leave. I stuffed my things in my bag, just as Alex slung his bag over his back. We exited the room without another glance and started walking through the hallways to our lockers.
"Thanks for the help back there," I said to Alex as we squeezed through tons of students.
He chuckled and said, "No problem. I told you that you needed to listen or else you'd be lost."
"Well, I didn't expect that he'd do it at that instant," I said as I chuckled, too.
We reached our lockers and put our books inside. Alex and I were locker buddies and we would always walk to class together when we had the same classes. Sadly, Maths was the only subject I had Alex with today, so I wouldn't be seeing him until later today. At least I had Angela and Caitlin with me in English LIT and I had Caitlin in History.
